YEAH, I got it!
..and I got it fairly cheap!

Not a bad game really....not great, but rather enjoyable. Like Virgin's other scrapped, but later released by Tec Toy game; Battlemaniacs, I don't think this game was 100% complete. It feels like even though nearly everything was implemented in the game, it's missing some of the polish that would have been put in before being released.

Anyway, the game's a port of the Amiga/Atari ST/PC platformer published by Graftgold. The graphics look virtually identical to it's computer versions, and the music's a bit high pitched and annoying, but tolerable.

The game stars a "cool coyote" who goes around tossing snowballs at critters, and grabbing ice-cubes that contain pieces of a key needed to exit the stage. The controll's a little sloppy, but it's OK once you get used to it.

I haven't played the computer versions of this game, but to get an idea of how it looks, here are some screenshots of the Amiga version: http://www.nemmelheim.de/graftgold/screenshots.html

Fire & Ice - Sega Master System. Released only by TecToy, Rarity -unknown, Value -undetermined. SMS rom not available on internet

I remember playing the shareware version of that one; it's pretty difficult. It would be pretty advanced for the SMS, anyway. (When I saw the title of this thread, I was thinking it was a port of the NES game that was a sequel to Solomon's Key.)

Slight update:
After playing it for a bit more, I change my opinion of the music somewhat. The Level 3 (Inca/Maya/whatever ruins stage) music rocks! Kind of a techno beat, I like it!
What I find really interesting about this game is that technically it could be called a "released prototype", seeing as the game was actually a nearly finished Virgin game released pretty much as-is by Tectoy in their desperate search for new SMS games to release.

Are you gonna let someone dump the game so everyone can play it?
(makes puppy dog eyes)

I'm pretty sure Bock at SMS Power has a copy, but hasn't released the rom yet. He's holding off releasing some roms to keep interest alive in SMS collecting, I believe.

Pretty much seems to be the case, he mentioned something about the rom's dump being questionable and he wanted to verify the checksum on his own, too.

is this the same fire&ice as the pc version that also had a shareware version? if so i've got to say this would fit better to genesis than sms :o

Yup, but I think you underestimate the awesome power of the Master System.

Im pretty sure i have this game, or at least HAD this game for the amiga 500.

Nothing really that interesting, if my memory serves me well, just a run of the mill platformer. Turrican however, was a real gem.
