Hey all, first time poster.

I recently got a 32x from Amazon to complete my setup of Genesis and Sega CD.

The seller said it came with "all cables" but it only came with an RF adapter and the mixing cable without the attachment for use with a Genesis model 1 (which I have).

I ordered a mixing cable for 32x to Genesis 1 from gametrog, but in the meantime I figured I'd butcher the cable I already have and wire the wires up to pins to insert into the DIN-8 plug on the back of my Genesis 1.

Anyway, my issue is that the cable works but all sprite layers appear as green. I think this might be because I'm missing the sync connection.

Basically the cable has a bunch of smaller colored wires inside. The wires are red, green, blue, yellow, brown, white, light gray, and orange.

I have red, green, and blue hooked up to the red, green and blue outputs on the back of the Genesis. Brown is going to ground and yellow is going to sync.

I'm using the pinout here: http://pinouts.ru/Game/sega1_pinout.shtml

I know I have red, green and blue correct but I don't know about the others.

Can anyone else who has done this before help? Thanks.

Missing sync doesn't cause color problems. Miswiring the color wires causes color problems.

Thanks Ape, I'll take a look at each one and see if one of the wires came off the piece of paper clip under the tape I'm using.

If I had a soldering iron I could do it right but this will have to work until the real cable comes.

Alright, I just double checked everything and still, all Genesis games show up entirely in green, as does the sprite layer for the sky in Virtua Racing, etc.

Any help?
