Atsushi Inaba of Okami fame is producing, and Yusuke Hashimoto, who produced the first Bayonetta, will be directing.
And, there you go ladies and gentlemen, my official reason to buy a Wii U.
I'll also get the inevitable port/+ version of the game if it goes over to Microsoft or Sony.
Color me excited, Bayonetta was easily my favorite action/adventure game of this generation.

I said the same thing in the other Wii U thread. I'm not so sure it's going to be ported to competing consoles since Reggie indicated Nintendo is publishing it. I'm guessing Sega either cancelled this or was close to cancelling it and Nintendo offered them cash for the exclusive and publishing duties. Regardless, I'm glad this IP will continue.

Perhaps. If the franchise continues to do well we'll probably get SOMETHING Bayonetta-related on the other consoles. If not this, even a ++ or director's cut version might be able to circumvent "exclusivity". We've seen it before with other games.
Even if this is only Wii U, I'm fine with that, was planning on getting one anyway.
*EDIT* also ... lets start the petitions to get Bayonetta into the next Smash Bros. NOW!

Yeah, the industry certainly has a liberal interpretation of the term "exclusive."

If it stays exclusive I'll definitely be picking it up and hopefully more gamers do so that this one can be a bigger hit than the first one. And if it does get ported I'll be picking that one up as well.

Wow, this on top of the decent price announcement has rocketed the Wii U to must have territory for me. I agree Bayonetta was one of the finest games this generation.
Just think about it, if they are making Bayonetta 2 for it, then Phantasy Star Online 2 can't be far behind, this is good news not only cause of Bayonetta, but because of Sega support in general.

Geez, what's next, Metal Gear Solid 5 becoming a WiiU exclusive?

Bayonetta being platform exclusive limits an already niche game to an even smaller audience. It's not a system selling title. Fun and well done as the first one was; the sequel isn't going to guarantee a WiiU purchase for a lot of folks.

Wasn't a fan of Bayonetta. Decent gameplay, but the character art style, story, and progression of the game killed it for me. Since Wii U owners never got to play the first unless they own a PS3 or 360, then Nintendo should fund porting the other one over to the Wii U and include both games on the same disc. Show their fans for once in their lives that they're not the greedy overpriced company that everyone knows they are.

Nintendo should pay to port it...why? Because it won't otherwise be available on the Wii U? And if they don't...they're greedy? I'm not sure why you think Nintendo owes that to you, when they didn't even develop or publish the original game.
And come on Sega, why are you making this exclusive to the Wii U? I had absolutely no interest in that system. I loved Bayonetta, but I'm not buying a system just to play it.

And come on Sega, why are you making this exclusive to the Wii U?
For starters, Nintendo is the one footing the bill. Sega wasn't going to produce a sequel on their own.

Sega cancelled the game/wouldn't fun it. Basically if Nintendo hadn't stepped in, Bayonetta 2 would not exist. If Sony or Microsoft had done the same, it would be exclusive to their system. No reason to bitch at Nintendo here.
The original ported over and included with it would be a nice bonus.

Interested in seeing proof that the game was cancelled at any time. Do you have a link?

Direct proof? No. But we know Sega cancelled alot of games in development following their restructuring and are not planning to physically release any games apart from the big 4 from now on. So either they cancelled the development of Bayonetta or refused to fund the sequel. Nintendo was willing.

Very cool, I really enjoyed the first one.
