So, I picked up a super cheap complete copy of super monaco GP for the genesis about a week ago. The box is allright, the manual's okay, but the cart itself is in amazing outside condition. Not a single scratch or blemish. However, when I plug it into the genesis, It refuses to work. It doesn't even get to the "produced and licensed by SEGA enterprises" screen. I've cleaned it with alcohol multiple times, yet it still doesn't work. Is there anything I can do, or is it a goner and best left that way?

Need to open it up and check it out, but you will need a special bit. I have a copy of Comix Zone that had a loose capacitor, I just soldered it back in place and the cart works fine now.
Here is the bit you need: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-4-5MM-BIT-SECURITY-TOOL-OPEN-SEGA-GENESIS-GAMES-/370596031025?forcev4exp=true

Ah, allright. Seems reasonable. I'll probably pick that up in the future once I've got a game worth that investment to repair; I paid 3 bucks for monaco and it's probably worth 2. I will prolly fix it then, however, since i'll have it from fixing the other game anyway.

I've had that happen. The mask rom can go bad as I've discovered when I swapped in an EPROM programmed with a retranslation of Dynamite Headdy. Worked great.
