Or so it would seem (http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/9345/article/killer-instinct-trademark-renewed-by-microsoft). Microsoft has been sitting on this franchise for what seems like forever. I think they should do an HD remake and follow it up with a new game in the series. If this works out maybe they'll bring back Battletoads as well.

I feel like they could be renewing simply so that no one else can pick it up, but god...what I wouldn't give for another one of these. I know they're not the greatest games ever made, and maybe not even the best fighting games, but they'll always hold a special place in my heart.
I wonder how a new game in the style of the old ones would fare with younger gamers who weren't around for the originals.

I actually prefer the gameplay of the Killer Instinct titles to the gameplay of any Mortal Kombat, Tekken, or Street Fighter game.

been a long time for Killer Instinct...would be fun to get my hands on it again...been a Tekken man for a long time....

You know, it's been a long time since we've had something fresh in the fighting genre. It's been Tekken 6, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Guilty Gear XX, Guilty Gear 2, King of Fighters XIII, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The only fresh face we've seen in over a decade is basically BlazBlue. Even though this would be Killer Instinct 3, it'd be good to see something besides these Japanese fighting game sequels.

There's no evidence that they're developing a new KI title. I'd be happy with an arcade perfect HD release of the existing games.

I agree with that. Although the SNES game was still fun, it just didn't quite have the impact of the arcade game. I'd like to see KI 1+2 as a package deal, both being HD arcade ports.
