How reliable are the lists on dp. For ex the n64 dp us release list has 299 games listed when only 296 n64 games were actually released confirmed by many sites. Ty for helping.

I'm sure some others can weigh in with more specifics on this, but I believe that the lists here are as reliable as you want them to be. Not every database or website has the same criteria for what "counts" as a release, so lists like these, while all comprehensive in their own way, are not always the same.
I ran into a similar issue when trying to find a good, definitive checklist of all the NES releases. The total number varies a bit between here, NA, RFGeneration and elsewhere, due to different interpretations of what constitutes a unique release. In the end, I've found that until I'm in a position where I'm actually approaching ANY measure of "completeness", there isn't much need to decide which website's standard I want to use to measure whether or not I have a complete collection.
I'm not sure what it's like for other systems, but I imagine that many of them simply don't have a universally agreed-upon list. Someone with more insight on complete collections should feel free to correct me on this, though.

Hey when you say different sites have different criteria for what counts as a release what exactly do you mean? Like a demo or platinum hits version or game of the year? Thanks for the input!

I don't think he's talking about variants like platinum hits, or samplers. A marquee example of what he means is Outback Joey. Some people consider it a Genesis game and part of a full set, and some people disagree considering it enablement software or something likened to the web browser for the Dreamcast. One has it listed in the set, while the other doesn't. Most every system with a substantial catalog has at least one of these collecting nightmares.

Yeah, this is what I was going for. Another example I've recently discovered is with The Untouchables for NES, which has two versions. The two versions have different cart labels and there are VERY slight differences in the EP-ROMs. In every other way, they're exactly the same. So...are they two separate games? I'm really not sure.
DP's database only has one entry for The Untouchables, but the entry makes note of the two different labels. RF Generation's database has a separate entry for each version. Do you need both versions for a complete NES set? I feel like that's something for each individual collector to decide. Knowing where to draw the line on collecting variants is a big part of each person's philosophy on collecting.

Hey can anyone confirm the difference in lists of Nintendo age and digital press. What games does digital press have that Nintendoage doesnt have for the n64 US list. DP has 299 listed and nintendo age has 296. Im looking as well.
