During the Tokyo Game Show (http://joystiq.com/tag/tgs-2012) this year, we asked some of Japan's biggest game industry figures what they felt is the most important game to them (outside of games they've actually created). For Keiji Inafune (http://joystiq.com/tag/keiji-inafune), creator of the Mega Man series and the brainnnnnz behind the upcoming zombie action game, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z (http://joystiq.com/game/yaiba), that fundamental game is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Super Nintendo. As important games go, we'd agree that Link to the Past is definitely on the list (and handily available on Virtual Console (http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/5oMtHuB3aOHoawfC6brZ6myQYnE4flQ_)).

Meanwhile, Hiroshi Kawano (http://joystiq.com/tag/hiroshi-kawano), president of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, picked Crash Bandicoot, which was conveniently (perhaps too conveniently) just released as a PSOne Classic for the PlayStation Vita. While it may not be the game many would have picked, it certainly has a memorable spot in PlayStation history, especially considering its developer, Naughty Dog (http://joystiq.com/tag/naughty-dog), went on to create the phenomenal Uncharted series.http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)Keiji Inafune's favorite game is Zelda: A Link to the Past (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/26/keiji-inafunes-favorite-game-is-zelda-a-link-to-the-past/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Wed, 26 Sep 2012 14:30:00 EST. I'm not surprised. The game is damn near perfect. I played just as much link to the past as I did mega man 6 as a child. And I LOVED mega man 6.

Is there a list anywhere of all the responses? I'd be more interested in knowing if any big-name figure in the industry chose an obscure game rather than hearing the predictable choices named.

I don't know about favorite game of all time but it's easily my favorite Zelda.

It might have something to do with this. Even as a kid I was never able to unsee it.

Not a bad game to rank No.1 overall. I probably would have it in my top 10 of all time, and probably top 3 among SNES games.

How does this fluff qualify as news?

Keiji Inafune has excellent taste. :) Link to the Past is a timeless classic and the first three Mega Man games aren't too far behind.
