Just replaced the lens in my MK-1 Sega Saturn after fiddling with the POT, spindle, and various other dohickies didn't work. While the swap itself was pretty painless, the disc will no longer spin. I also noted that it does not indicate the drive door is open (but that could just be a characteristic of the MK-1, I usually play on a 2).

Any help, advice, or brutal cynicism is welcome.

Thanks!

P.S. Used a JVC Optima 6 I picked up from Liberty Electronics on ebay in case you're wondering.

It doesn't think that the door is open when it is open?

I'd take a look at the little switch that tells the Saturn whether the door is open or closed before anything.

I hope this goes well for you. This will be very important for me to learn in the hopefully far future. When the laser decides to go out on my ultimate modded Saturn that has both a modchip and unibios, I know I am going to freak out and be very upset. I hope this terrible event can wait at least another 20 years.

I looked at that, and everything seems nominal. When I close the door most of the way I can here the lens re-adjust, it just won't spin any more :/.

Update!

I took the system in to eStarland to have them take a look at it. Their technician thinks it could be a problem with the motherboard and the thing is irrevocably hosed :/. However, when I showed up to pick up my broken unit with a new lens, I couldn't get the guy to speak with me. He just hid out in the back and wouldn't elaborate on the issue. All I really wanted was 5 minutes and some insight on what happened, so now I'm not sure I trust their opinion. Anyone else know a good source for Sega Saturn repair? Preferably where I'd be treated like a customer and not a nuisance (though if they can fix it I'll take the abuse).
