I don't know if this is the right place to put this.

Has anyone had any issues with shipping ebay items to Italy? I have an offer on one of my items, but I have never shipped there. I don't mind doing it I just want to make sure there isn't any major issues going around.

Don't do it. Italy is one of several countries where items repeatedly disappear and Ebay will side with the buyer.

I've never had issues shipping to Italy before. Just make sure you ship with some kind of tracking!

I've never shipped to Italy but from what I hear it's not the best place to send packages to. However, if you are dead set on it theres only one real option to use and thats global express international. They provide complete tracking from the time you drop it off all the way until it gets to it's destination and I believe it's insured up to $100 though you can always add more if you need to. But if you aren't going to use GEI then don't bother sending it.

That isn't good enough. I was basically screwed after my package got lost, the USPS wouldn't do shit until Poste Italiane admitted they lost the package - which they NEVER DID.

Didn't your package actually arrive and you ended up getting the money from the buyer at the end?

Yes. But, Poste Italiane refused to help and they wouldn't even confirm the package was delivered or not. :( I only got the money after I told the guy I was calling the cops.

it isn't a problem if you ship with a tracking number and insurance, honestly the best way to send it is probably through dhl.

they have really good customer service.

Yes.

With global express guaranteed (https://www.usps.com/ship/gxg.htm) your package is suppose to be guaranteed to arrive or a full refund is issued for the postal amount and $100 worth of insurance unless you added more. I would have made sure they tracked that package down.

What part of Poste Italiane refused to help did you not read?

USPS WOULD NOT do shit until Poste Italiane confirmed the package got lost. Since they wouldn't, I couldn't get the insurance paperwork started. Hence, fucked.

Never. EVER. Ship anything to Italy. It's a black hole for postal items. I almost got screwed out of five hundred dollars despite everyone telling me not to send anything even with EMS. It's not worth the gamble. EVER.

Also, GXG costs twice as much as Express Mail. It isn't a viable option for small sellers.

That would suck. I've been fortunate enough to never have to mail anything to Italy although I did get a question from a buyer there a couple weeks ago. Looks like it will be added to the handful of countries I don't do business with. Better safe than sorry.

What about UPS? Who cares if the cost is insane...if the buyer is dumb, err desperate, enough to accept, so be it. Get the most ludicrously expensive service from either Fedex or UPS, with full insurance and shit.

If the buyer refuses, fuck them.
