So Pax East 2013 is in March and 3 day tickets have already sold out. I've gotten 3 day passes since it first came here in 2010 and this will be the first year I'm only going for friday and saturday. I'm shocked they sold out so quickly but i have a strange feeling alot of the tickets sold were scalpers (in which some havethe ticket up for sale already on ebay for 2x what you could buy 3 one day passes for). I am still psyched either way because every year is a memorable experience. Anybody else going to 2013? who knows how long 1 day passes will last.

That seriously pissed me off, and a lot of folks in the community. Hopefully with all the people reporting the ebay auctions PA will do something about it. Me i gotta try for 3 one day passes, or wait till next year and the non-scalpers list them on ebay or craigslist.

and one the reasons for the fast sell out; pax east isn't competing with anime boston the same weekend and it's not Easter weekend next year either.

yeah PAX has been the one thing I look foward to the most every year and these damn scalpers on ebay say they have "10+ available" for sale. You aren't even supposed to be able to order more than 5 badges. I hope nobody buys their auctions for those shitty prices. Its bad enough you gotta pay for hotel costs, food, and the badges. Not to mention people like to buy souveniers and I also like to buy a Saturn game to add to the collection. PAX 13 scalpers can seriously f themselves. Sorry if you are on these boards reading this but you guys have broken my 3 year tradition for year 4.

Well knowing my way around boston and such. I don't know if this would effect this. By the Garden arena i noticed theres a shit ton of ticket scalping agencies on a strip.

Would they do something like this?

aka

BYOW ;)

My buddy seems interested we might hit this up.

Question atleast for him anyways it takes 4 hours roughly to get to boston... Would it be alot more ideal to get a hotel in bostonish to try to beat as much of the check in line as possible?

I'm certainly going to try to make it again (I went to all three Pax East events so far). Next year though I'm definitely taking a hotel room in Boston. The past two years, the friend I went with rented a room far in the suburbs (almost in New Hampshire!), which means that I'm stuck having to rely on him for transportation and all throughout the weekend, whereas the first year I stayed at the YWCA and it worked great as a solution for me.

If you are going all 3 days a hotel is the way to go. Last year I didn't get into Boston until 11am on Friday. You basically just walk in at that point. You can always go grab one of the bags with freebies. Unless you get a thrill out of being first in line

My wife and I have made it to every Pax east so far. i used to live in the boston area but moved to NJ to be with her and it figures they started Pax East after i moved (not that i wouldnt have anyway :P)

i did manage to get our 3-day passes again this year, but we are also huge PA fans so i was on that website constantly and grabbed them as soon as they went up. I do know that PA is working on a way to fight the scalping but i haven't heard any updates on ideas. at least they did something about the people making fake passes.

Pax Prime sold out even faster. i believe all of their passes were sold out in like 24 hours.

also, Hi. I'm Brian. I should probably go introduce myself somewhere. :P

I'm also headed up from Jersey. Trying to find a cheap flight this year. Took the train last year. Drove the year before.

me and my wife drive up there once a month to visit my family (and because im their landlord so i gotta keep and eye them damn kids :P) so it works out that i can drive up and go to pax east and then write the whole trip off as a business expense.

we tried this year to get a room at the hotel attached to the convention center, but by the time i saw that they were taking reservations (2 hours after they had started) they were sold out. but the hotel we normally stay at is only like a 30 min drive outside boston anyway. I would prefer to take the T into boston but i'm never sure when they trains stop running and on friday/saturday we dont usually head out of there until about 1am.
