I won this auction back on the 5th: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190732649206?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

The seller put it in the mail by first class mail the next day and gave me a tracking number. It was expected for delivery on the 9th because of Columbus Day, but it didn't process through the local sort facility in my city until that day. Shortly thereafter at exactly 00:00:00, it enters "departed from sort facility" and seems to have completely disappeared. Nothing has updated, and nothing has been delivered.

Here's the number: 03120090000206298855

I contacted the seller three days ago and asked if it had been returned to him, and what to do if I don't receive it in the next week. No response! I know he didn't jip me 'cause he really sent something, and the Japanese Game Boy he listed was received by its winner on the 9th according to feedback. With no insurance purchased, is there anything I can do at this point?

Thanks. :)

This occasionally happens to 1st class parcels. For some reason, one in a hundred seems to take the scenic route.

I would call the USPS, open a case and give them the tracking number. In my experience they magically appear shortly thereafter.

Wow, I can actually do that? I had no idea. Thanks! :)

They do tend to have better tracking internally. The servers that run the usps.com tracking seem to lag behind substantially. When I've filed a report I've always heard back from the local PO with 1 business day. I wouldn't be too concerned unless a few weeks have passed. For insured packages they actually say to wait 21 days before filing a report.

That's good to know. I called this morning and they took all my info, saying that I should receive a response by closing tomorrow. If not, I'm to call back and provide the claim number for more information.

Thanks again! :D

The box was finally delivered yesterday free of damage! The postmaster told me when things like this occur with the tracking system, the package in question had an unreadable or damaged label. The entirety of the package is fine though! Apparently it just got misplaced at the sort facility.
