On my Sega Genesis Model 1 Non-HDG (but thankfully not VA7) I never noticed rainbow banding but all of the sudden I switched tv's and now I notice some. It shows up a lot on black screens. Like I said this never happened before and btw I am using composite cables (yellow and white) and NOT RF. Is there a way to fix this?

Sorry these pictures were taken from my iPad and are kind of hard to see but the rainbow banding is noticeable nonetheless. Thank you!

Edit: for some reason the pics won't open when you click on them so you can visit the thread I made on Sega 16 for larger pics: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?22366-Is-there-a-way-to-fix-rainbow-banding&p=522423#post522423

Two ways, either get an RGB cable which outputs pure RGB signals instead of putting them through the composite encoder, or replace the capacitors on your motherboard.

A third way is to use the 32x to minimize the banding since it uses the RGB signals from the Genesis and outputs it using it's own internal composite encoder, but in the long run it's better to just replace the caps since the console is getting older each day and more problems case arise as they age.

If your not too great on your soldering skills, there's some people here that can help you with that. But if you want to venture into it, here's the list, just look up your motherboard revision: ( I SWEAR THERE WAS A LONGER LIST *looks for it*)

Even with a cap replacment the rainbow bars can still be there, but less apparent, it's the damn encoders fault.

Maybe it's the TV then. What TV are you using now?

Genesis is infamous for its encoding quality. Check your TV to see what input options are available.
