View Full Version : Best way to sell Sega systems (individually or lot?)

Even though I'm a strict nintendo fan I've somehow acquired a bunch of sega stuff. I've got the master system, all 3 models of the genesis, and a game gear. I even have the official carrying case for the GG along with about 6 games. Most of the systems are untested and the GG's screen is screwed up at the top.

My question is, what would be the best way to ebay this stuff and get the most money? Should I throw it all in one big lot, or part it out? Is there one model that may be worth more than others? I was thinking the game gear stuff would be a nice lot, especially with the carrying case, but since the screen's screwy I'm not so sure. I'm hoping some of you sega fans could give me a little advice... maybe even make an offer ;) LOL I need to start making some money before this semester starts else I'll be a bookless accounting student, and believe me acc. books aren't cheap! :P

Unfortunately, it seems that Sega Hardware isn't worth a heck of alot. Especially the Genesis variety. You might get a little bit of money for the Genesis 3, just because somebody might be intrigued by it, but the other Genny's won't fetch much at all.

I'm not sure about the Game Gear.

I think the best way to sell a old Genny, is to package it with like 20 crappy games that you have no interest in. Like tons of loose sports games that are worthless anyway. You might find somebody that doesn't know that Genny sports games are only worth a quarter, and they could pay some decent cash for it.

Of course that is like hoping you get struck by lightning, so it's not a very good bet.

You can sell Genesis systems for $20 locally at Flee markets, Newspaper (free under $100 section is the shiznit) or in a personal Garage sale.. don't try to take them to Ebay, they won't fetch more then $5.

When you get to the Sega CD level then Ebay..

Best of Sega:

SMS
Nomad
Sega CD front loader
CDX

Worst:

System 1,2
32x
Game Gear

The DC is a little bit new to tell where the market will go, but the games failed to touch anyones fanboy nerves. Maybe Chu Chu or Crazy Taxi..

C'mon, test that stuff before you sell it. It's not like it's that hard to test common Sega systems. No one wants to get ripped off (unintentionally in this case...). I can't stand it when I see crap on eBay "untested".

I would if I could :P Most of the systems are missing a cable, either AC or RF, and I don't even have a master system game to test it out with. I understand what you mean though. :)

Thanks for the replies so far guys!
