i have a commodore vc20 and the game duck shoot and have set it up but i don't know how to get the game to play. can someone tell me how to do it, i've looked on the internet and can't find the answer

Can you provide more detail?
Does the game just not boot up at all, or are you stuck on the title screen or something?
You should post this in Classic Computer Gaming, by the way.

i have it set up itturns on and that and comes up on the screan but when i put a game in it to play it doesn't play

So it's a cartridge?
Maybe turn it on with the cartridge already in the machine.
If it's on tape, type LOAD, press return, and press play on tape.
