ok so here is my problem I have a sega gen model 2 with a sega cd model 2 and a 32x and I can play sonic cd, jurassic park just fine no problems and those 2 games have some scratches on them but I just got ecco 1 and ecco 2 and I can play eather one fine for about 20 min then they start the glitch out the graphincs get weird like little squares all over the screen but my dolphine still moves then they system will end up restarting but the game will then be glitchy from the start unless the system is off for a bit and the ecco games look brand new no scratches at all. so please I cant figure out what is wrong with the system but like I said the sonic game and jurassic park play fine. I have also taken the two ecco games back and swaped with other cd's they had and still the same issue. please any help would be great I love my old school systems...

Perhaps your shift key and period key are stuck in the drive somewhere.

I guess bad capacitors.

I guess bad capacitors.
Is that something fixable and if so can I do it myself?

Also why will some games work fine?

Its possible it has to do with what system resources the games are actually using, which can vary from game to came. At least that would be my guess.

So it probley is the capacitors? If so were can I go online to find info on how to fix it and the parts needed?

That sounds like an unusual fault for sure and i am not sure i can offer anything other than more speculation, but with my knowledge of electronics and thinking about it-
-The graphics may be breaking down when the cd drive is trying to read a certain area of the disc but the problem would happen with all games so that is unlikely.
-Usually graphics breaking up after a period of time is due to a either thermal problem or slight voltage change (instability),capacitors are used to filter and regulate and so are prime candidates for this problem and may others but again would this not happen with all games?
-Maybe the Ecco games use a certain area of ram or other i.c that is not used by the other games, and this ram/i.c could be faulty?
I will have a look on the net and other forums like Sega 16 for other similar problems and solutions.
