dartttt writes "In a presentation at Ubuntu Developer Summit currently going on in Denmark, Drew Bliss from Valve said that Linux is more viable than Windows 8 for gaming. Windows 8 ships with its own app store and it is not an open platform anymore and Linux has everything they need: good OpenGL, pulseaudio, OpenAL and input support."http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png (http://twitter.com/home?status=Valve%3A+Linux+Better+Than+Windows+8+f or+Gaming%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FSo5PVk)http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png (http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgames.slashdot.org%2Fsto ry%2F12%2F10%2F29%2F154207%2Fvalve-linux-better-than-windows-8-for-gaming%3Futm_source%3Dslashdot%26utm_medium%3Dface book)http://www.gstatic.com/images/icons/gplus-16.png (http://plus.google.com/share?url=http://games.slashdot.org/story/12/10/29/154207/valve-linux-better-than-windows-8-for-gaming?utm_source=slashdot&utm_medium=googleplus)

That's one way to stir up interest and gain exposure for the steam linux beta, I guess.
Steam works just fine on Windows 8.

Go Linux!

If Microsoft continues there trend, buying software will only be primarily from there store, this would be a game over for Valve.
