Finally getting around to cleaning out some of my collection, is there any value in CIB Game Gear games?

I have Battletoads, Ristar, Ecco: Tides of Time, Virtua Fighter Animation, Aladdin, Lion King, Legend of Illusion, and Spider-Man/X-Men. Any ideas? I doubt there's anything of real value, but I'm just curious.

Battletoads is worth quite a bit, considering someone here is offering $300.00 for a complete copy.

I'm not sure about the others, for some reason complete Game Gear games can be worth a ton more than loose copies. I'm just not familiar with all of the titles that are like that.

No idea really. The Disney ones were a little more common than the rest, at least they're the ones I saw more often than not (CIB that is). I'd love to take the Ristar off your hands (actually most of them except Legend of Illusion which I already have CIB). :)

Any of the majesco rerelease games arent worth a ton CiB OR new, including:

Sonic 2
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Spinball
Lion King
Jungle Book
Aladdin
Deep Duck Trouble

The remaining titles are likely pretty damn rare but prices are pretty much going to vary based on how much someone's willing to pay. A boxed GG ristar sold for $8.50 a while back on ebay, for example, and one would think a game like that would go for more in such a condition.

Like second post said, the only one of your lot that's really going to be valuable is Battletoads due to the cultural phenomenon and slight hard-to-findness of the game.

The only GG titles I can think of worth a considerable amount CiB would be megaman, battletoads, shining force sword of hayja, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Blast and Tails Adventure, though others could go for a decent amount.

The only games I have CiB are Devilish and Robocop Vs Terminator. Both are insanely hard to come by in such a condition but neither is popular enough to warrant a complete copy going for much.

With many of the rarer titles, finding complete copies in decent condition can be very very difficult. Hence you get people posting 300$ bounties. 3 Ninjas, Megaman, Bubble Bobble are all very very hard to find complete. Megaman is actually really hard to find just loose. The boxes are all made of cheaper recycled cardboard and are small and flimsy. Many of the common gamegear games can still be found sealed at more reasonable prices.

Recently a CIB Battletoads sold on eBay for $220. Fluke or accurate reflection of market value?

Its all about the box really, so if the one you have is nice and is complete it very well could fetch around or over 200$.
Generally speaking there are not very many serious game gear collectors out there, but finding the boxes for the rarer titles is very very hard. I checked out the auction you mentioned and it looks legit.

Rare Gamegear boxes can go for stupid amounts on their own without the game.

I sold a really good condition (had single dent on one side) box for Megaman that had everything but the game for well over $200 within the last 5 or so months.

How much does Mega Man on the GG go for loose?

It seems to go for between 30-45 loose, which I would guess is about right.

I also noticed a complete one went for 250$
