Ok...so my son who just turned 3 has for a while now decided naps were not for him. So, he'll venture around the house and while his older sister is away at school..I've now found he's discovered Ms Pac-man in her room while no one is watching.
The first time I found him, I hear some familiar sounds coming from behind my daughter's closed bedroom door while she was at school.
I look in and my 3 yr old boy is sitting there, a small, battery powered classic game joystick in his hand, containing a few namco classics. He, all by himself had turned on the TV, turned on the game, selected ms pac-man and got to playing.
Made his daddy proud that day

Cute. :) Another budding game reviewer? I just checked out your site, and I think it's really sweet how you bond with your daughter over gaming. From one (much older, haha) female gamer to another, I hope she sticks with games and develops a lifelong love for them. Same for your son too. :)

He's already got better taste than most gamers several times his age, so you must be doing something right.

haha, yea that combo of words probably placed me in some sort of file...but still, good story, worth it... lol
and yea we'll see what he continues to play, he's big into racing games too so far, anything with driving...if he starts doing reviews too, it will feel like I'm making us into the Partridge Family of game reviewers...

Great story, OP.
Not that this is a contest, but a few days ago, my 15 month year old son showed me that he wanted to watch his Hungry Caterpillar DVD. He walked over to my PS3, turned on the PS3, and ejected the Doom 3 disc that was in it. He then removed the disc and that's when I stepped in. I didn't want to see what he would do with the Doom 3 disc. Of course he did this by moving his hands around the power/eject buttons. I don't think he knew exactly what buttons he pushed. But he must have caught on by watching me do it.
P.S. I don't play Doom 3 in front of him.

hey Carnby, very cool...amazing what they do pick up on eh? Yea I didn't take time to show him how, similar to your case... I think in my son's case he learned by watching his sister...caught me off guard lol...now if he had been on level 2 or 3 or something...but that was not the case :)

Cute story, brings back great memories. When my son was around 2 1/2 yrs. old, he obsessed with driving. We bought him one of those battery-powered "Power Wheels" cars and he would drive it around the yard until he feel asleep. One day, I was playing Simpsons Hit & Run on the original XBOX and my son grabbed the controller. He spent the whole evening learning how to get in and out of the car. I decided to let him learn the controls by himself. So he would get in the car, go ten feet, and get out and run around the car and do it all over. He did this for days. Then one day he saw the Fire Truck ladder. He spent all evening trying to walk up the ladder(he ran in a snake-like pattern, so it was difficult). He played for weeks, slowly learning the game. Soon, he began unlocking new areas. It was really fun watching him progress. I was amazed how fast he picked it up.

ah that is very cool...love seeing the little ones discover gaming, gameplay, etc as they go
