I've just started buying game consoles this year. Managed to get quite a few old gameboy pockets, color and advance with damaged screens. It is difficult to get a replacement screen now as the LCDs are no longer in production. Most of the faulty gameboys on market have damaged screen, so swapping of parts is unlikely.
I found that most of the gameboy front polarizer is damaged. However, due to the strong adhesive of the gameboy front polarizer, a translucent layer between the front polarizer and the display matrix always gets damage when removing the front polarizer. Suspect that the layer is a phase retardation film since those are STN LCD.
I can just rip off polarizer from dead LCD monitor but I've no idea where to get those phase retardation film. Anyone knows where to get some cheap phase retardation films? Thanks.
