Ok see because of hurricane sandy my house was flooded. So I'm living with my aunt and uncle for a little while, while my house gets repairs done to make it livable. Now I ordered my 3DO a bit before the storm and it was delivered a day after the storm. I have a bunch of games for it already but I want to get Samurai Shodown because it is good. Now I don't fully understand the extent of blood and stuff in the game because I never played it.

Also while we are on the subject what game would be more fun for a 10 year old? Shockwave or Twisted the Gameshow

Mortal Kombat Id say is NC 17, SS is PG at most. Theres really not a lot of blood in the arcade version I play at any time and it just goes away in a flash when it does show up. Characters can be sliced in half, but theres really no blood when that happens, more like lights like if they were holograms. A 10 year old has seen far more blood on tv and in movies by this point than in this game, and honestly with how hard it can be to master they arent going to get very far in the game at first, a lot of strategy is countering moves. When a character is doing a roll attack I love to stab straight into them, and if they try to smash into you from above you can use your knee, thats pretty funny to see. And theres no sexuality either besides some guys having muscles. Besides The King of Fighters series and Garou, theyre my favorite SNK fighting games.

Im sorry about your house, and I hope none of your personal items were damaged.

I havent played the other games, they seem very different from each other. And for some reason I think Shockwave is the most common 3DO game Ive ever seen, The AVGN has 2 copies, theres 3 copies at the retro store and I always see it on ebay.

Twisted the Gameshow looks Damn weird. Weirder than any 3DO game... Hell any other game I've seen. Shockwave looks like just your standard POV shooter on the 3DO but it isn't weird like twisted is.

The guy who was the CEO of EA and left to make the 3DO said Twisted was his favorite game on the console.

Heres two reviews of the series with a ton of game footage. The blood you see in the Genesis is the way it is in the arcade, except not was dark, cause the NEO GEO was way more advanced than the Genesis was.

I personally would recommend Twisted over Shockwave. While Shockwave is fun, Twisted is just a blast to play. One of my absolute favorites for the system. And there is a child difficulty to we're a 10 year old would really enjoy it also.

I have to agree with the above sentiment. If the said ten years old is really good at Videogames, then yeah, slap in Shockwave. Twisted, though, is easily one of the most fun and user friendly games on the 3DO. Very good stuff. Oh, and if you think Twisted is weird, check out Zhadnost: The People's Party. Very cool, and VERY weird. Makes Twisted look tame.

Samurai Showdown should be fine for a 10 year old to play, I own it for the 3DO and aside from fighting there is little to worry about when exposing a 10 year old to a game like this. Picture Street Fighter 2 but with weapons (swords, mainly).

I noticed a few people talking about Shockwave in this thread and I wouldn't have any issue with a 10 year old playing this game either, it's mainly a shooting title with flying elements if I remember correctly so it should be all fine and good.

I let him play Super Street Fighter II and he likes it a lot and always begs me to play it. The only reason I question Samurai Shodown isn't the fighting its the blood splatters that worry me and then I heard the 3DO version is like the least censored when it comes to violence so it got me worried.

My word on this may not be the most orthodox, but I'll have it at this;

The "censored" Samurai Shodowns can actually look worse than the uncensored ones, because the only "censoring" SNK did was changing the color of the blood to white.

This causes those "high-pressure blood spurt" deaths to look like... something -completely- different.

(Interestingly enough, it appears everyone who plays the game now goes for uncensored, so I can't find any proper recordings to show you what I mean)

.. Yeah. Anyhow, the Takara port of the game to the SNES has something resembling more proper censoring, as they outright remove blood and death.
