NEW GB SPECS? - By Chris | July 9-2003 | 12:16 AM

Japanese developer Takeshi Kiyuna commented about the succesor to the Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Advance SP. He said the following: "The next generation of the Gameboy is already in development, it will feature a bigger and better screen, the resolution will probably be 300x200 or more, and will feature 260,000 colors". He also commented that it will be atleast as powerful as the Nintendo 64, being a true enemy against the threath of the Sony PSP. More info as it arrives.

Here are the comments by the people who read this.

That sounds good. I already knew it would be at least as powerful as N64, Miyamoto announced quite some time ago that they were working on a port of Starfox 64.

At least more powerfull then the N64 of course! Already some companies are coming with 3d capabilities in late 2003 with their handheld. if nintendo comes out in 2004 then of course it will be more then the n64. remember that the n64 came out in 95 so its almost 10 years. Better screen also:)

I think I'm buying the new Game Boy rather than PSP. Heard about the bigger screen sometime ago, but 64 bit's? Wow, never thought it's that good for a handheld.

Yeah, maybe someday they'll have pocket virtual reality systems that fit in your pocket and are used through neural interfaces. That would be teight!!!

The PSP is just another way of laughing in nintendos face. They add a mp3 player so that gullible softcore gamer will buy it. Sony knows out to attract naive gamers. But maybe they will back out this time cause the PSP is just not powerfull enough.

Sony knows how to attract people with extras. It's been proven that Gamecube is technically better, but PS2 sells more, because it plays DVDs. People want extras more than they want games these days.

to reply to draco, i got a ps2 _because_ of the games. i got shafted when i bought an n64 instead of a PSX because of the lack of good games for it, and when it came time to buy a new system, the ps2 simply had the better availability of good games, not to mention square.

In response to pika, I didn't necessarily mean every gamer. In my eyes, you are one of the few true gamers left, all you care about are the games. Though I don't share your opinion on PSx or PS2, I do believe you are a true gamer.

well, thank you. i do have to agree with you, sony did seem to market to the "trendy" sort of crowd, as did the xbox. and i really like how the gba and game selection for it are shaping up.

Whats the point of talking about the ps2 here? anyways if nintendos wants to beat sony this time , they need to be clear and show to the casual gamer that the next gameboy will be far superior then the sony psp
Posted by Dino

Well, from a graphical standpoint, the next GB is already superior to the PSP. 64 bits vs. 32 bits.

If Nintendo actually makes this new GameBoy system, the only games on the N64 I really want are Perfect Dark, SSB, Mario Kart, and the other related sorts. Other than those types of games, the N64 didn't really have many games players enjoyed.

IF Nintendo makes it? They are, trust me. And I disagree, Nintendo had many more player's choice games than PS1 did.

Yea I knew nintendo would pull the dildo out of their ass if sony asked them to.

It was just f*cking coming to Nintendo. Now I hope all of Japan catches fire and burns down killing all the game makers and system makers and putting a big black dildo up nintendos presidents ass when Miya whats the f*ck his name is plays with his 4 inch cock-a-doodle-doo. (Because asians have small cocks) f*ck.

What the frick is your problem? Jeez, what a loser.

they come out with these new incarnations too fast.

/by the way, does anyone know if when you are using the gamecube gameboy player, does it save the game on the gamecube memory card or..on the gameboy cartridge or something?

It saves the game into the gameboy cartridge.

Isn't this a bit early? I just bought an SP last month.

I'm sure Nintendo is at least developing their next-generation Gameboy, if only to see how Sony will fare with their PSP. If Sony has a huge success, we'd probably see Nintendo's new unit in 2005. Next year is just too soon, and GBA already has sold 15 million in the States.

Next year's E3 should be really interesting.

I doesn't surprise me to hear that Nintendo is working on a next-gen system already. They, like every console manufacturer, should always be working hard and moving forward towards new content. Plus, with all of the upcoming handheld competition, they SHOULD be working towards a new console to keep themselves ahead.

Lovely. Now instead of an endless flood of SNES ports, we can get a similar flood of N64 ports. Kill me and get it over with.

Gah, that's exactly what i was thinking as I read the article. I bought my GBA at launch, and I plan to purchase a GB Player soon. So what they're saying is, in one to two years, I'll be purchasing a new gameboy and a new GB player? It was one thing when it was just a handful of color games I couldn't play, but I'm not looking forward to GB revisions being as prolific as (or possibly more proific than) console revisions.
