I am looking for box cover art, for what I believe is a shmup, unfortunately I have little info to go buy.

Early style jap anime cover maybe 80s, sort of like Akira and depicts a fighter type space ship
It might have been Konami but not sure
Maybe SNES?

These covers strongly remind me of it:

Anyway I love this art style so even if no one finds it, at least I will have some new art to look at :)

Um, don't think Radiant Silvergun's cover is exactly 80's style rendering :/

Not that Imaruga or Gradius 2 are either.

That said, man, you sorta described 99% of console SHMUP covers.

Meh, with all the maybes and might haves it could be anything I was just going by Akira (as the ships look kind of like the bikes) and the provided similar covers and Silvergun was the first thing that came to mind.

I'm pretty sure you're after Gun Nac. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51R7sRuElQL._SL500_SS500_.jpg
The Japanese cart has a bunny wabbit instead of cawots on it, how kyute...
Seriously though, good game.
Terra Cresta has more of a Thunderbirds art style on it's box, in case I'm wrong about the Gun Nac... http://www.gamesdbase.com/Media/SYSTEM/Nintendo_NES/Box/big/Terra_Cresta_-_1986_-_Nihon_Corp..jpg

Have a good one!

Thanks for the help everyone, I know my description sucks but so far Gradius 3 is very close. I was searching for this myself and looked through tons of random covers from pc engine to ps2 and couldn't find it.

Is there a website that will show me all or most cover from a particular system, I am thinking of looking into turbographix, Saturn and genesis I am doubting that it was on snes

It wasn't quite as cartoony as that, again it has a very similar style to all of the Gradius covers. I particularly liked the cover to Gradius 1, dunno what it is about them they look like 70s prog rock album covers.

Sega Retro has lists that have most of the cover art for the Sega systems.

What makes Gradius 3 so close? Is it the ship design? Colors? Layout? Allen? Only one ship? If you can’t give the definite system it’s on maybe a little more info on the picture could help.

While I’m here I’ll make another guess Galactic Attack?

I definitely think it's in one of these three major franchises if it looks like it's from Gradius. Sorry the Gun Nac was too "cartoony" looking. When I hear 80's anime as a descriptor, I can't help but think a certain way. At least I didn't shoot you Abadox or something...

That does it! How dare you put up such an awesome resource for people to bookmark?!? That's your third strike. You officially know a thing or two about videogames. Grrr... Now I'm going to have to waste some time fishing through that list for any hidden gems. Thanks!!

thanks for that great list, looking through it made me think of Konami so I found this, I think this is it, or at least very very close.
http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/9/93156/2367841-a2600_vanguard_none_large.jpg

I also found this which is a bit cartoony but still awesome

here are some pro rock cover that remind me of it also would make great shmup covers

Looking at all these, I believe there was a planet involved, but i think it's either Gradius 3 of Vanguard.

Haha, I've used that site to find quite a few hidden gems. I know a little bit and know what I like but there are folks on this forum who know more than me.

To keep on topic, Konami had some really great cover art for their games. It makes me wonder why companies like SOA and Capcom USA changed their great Japanese cover art to the atrocities we received in the States?

you really dont know what generation its from? theres literally like 40,000 different shooters from back in the day to present. 80s and 90s had 39,000 of these 40,000. Was the packaging in English or Japanese? Im gonna take a shot in the dark and say Crisis Force.

The only game cover that I can think of to match those descriptions would be Gleylancer.
