Does anyone on here have any experience using Rit-dye to dye a controller for a classic system? There are some examples on google images, but I'd like to see if anybody has pulled off a more impressive result. Here are a couple I found:

I've seen more success with keyboards:

Specifically, I want to dye a Sony PlayStation controller to be blue. Would it dye without changing the color of the SONY text and logo too much?

I like the idea, it sounds like something I might like to try, but in the first picture....

...is that a Wii controller dyed yellow? Is there some sort of gaming sub-culture purposefully yellowing newer Nintendo equipment to give it that retro SNES feel? Strange.

Is this just vinyl dye?
It should work well for just about anything plastic.
Just make sure you have a well ventilated work space.

A couple of points I've learned so far:

1. Any scratches that were previously on the controller will be revealed by the dye.

2. It's very easy to warp the plastic if you leave it in the dye for too long. It's best to use only 5-10 second dunks into the water, then let the plastic cool, and repeat.

There's a good thread here with info:

Yes, and a pot to boil the dye in that you are willing to never use for anything else again.

I think it is.

I've only used aerosol vinyl dye.
This sounds a bit more involved.
