You know the old, old story. It's on eBay. Out in the open. You want it. You've wanted it for years. And so have 34 other people. The fight is on.
What's the biggest fight you've ever put up for an import? And what are the biggest steals you've ever gotten?
For me, the biggest fight was Nichibutsu Arcade Classics. Hyper Crazy Climber wasn't cheap or anything, but NAC is a bitch to get in a bidding war with someone on. If you see a buy it now for less than $70, JUMP ON IT.
Biggest steals? Space Invaders retro collecction for $5 (!!), and Irem Arcade Classics, which had been on my "watch for this" list for four years, went uncontested for $20. I even showed up in the auction's closing moments and backup-bid myself up to $70...but nobody else wanted it. I felt bad for the seller....eh, not that bad. ;)

The one I had to bid like hell to get....well, honestly I've gotten almost all my imports outside of eBay! The hardest one to get was Sylphia for Duo though. Had to ask Matt over at Wolfgames to find one for me, and he came through after about 3 months :) Cost me $80, but what's funny is that now that's a steal of a price for it!

Which system's this for? Someone's selling the SNES version for about $25 on eBay most of the time... I've had one off him...

I was referring to the PS1 version, which has some bonus games not on the SNES version.

PC Denjin (translates to Air Zonk) was on Ebay. Me and some other placed very low bids on it because we both knew that when the auction neared its closing time, the bids (and price) would rise exponentially. Although other bidders were dispatched by us, we continued our battle as the time ran out. 2 seconds before the auction finished, I outbid him by one dollar.
Talk about battle hardened! @_@

I haven't had to fight hard to get anything, most of the imports I go after aren't that rare, or sought after....usually.
Ninja Gaiden for the Master System, Rarity 5. Some SERIOUS Ninja Gaiden collectors go after this game occasionally, making a $10-$15 game go all the way up to $30-$40. It can be a bitch to get sometimes, but if you have patience, you can get it complete for $5 + shipping.

I had to fight like a mad dog for my copy of Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Grafitti. It certainly was worth it in the end.

In the category of imports I had to fight tooth and nail for, I should also add my collection of Odyssey2 imports. The four Parker Bros. games were never released domestically, and I had to track them down from sellers in the Netherlands, Brazil, France...you name it. There were also some first-party titles that didn't make it out in the U.S., and I'm still working on tracking those down.
Number of O2 imports in my collection: 5.
Amount spend on those games: $200+.
Playing Q*Bert on an Odyssey2: priceless.

For a Mint Boxed Nekketsu Kouha Kunio Kun I was in a serious bidding war with another buyer. I finally got it for $80.

Biggest steal?
Radiant Silvergun at $65 in 2002.
Psychic Assassin Taromaru at $80 in 2003

While I haven't fought particularly hard for any particular import, I think that Twinkle Star Sprites (JP DC) gave me the most trouble.

The only games I remember that involved a bidding war on eBay were Steam Hearts and Hermie Hopperhead.

probably MegaDrive Panorama Cotton with its omake Cotton o'cha cup set on Yahoo Japan...
I got into biding war and ended up winning the auction albeit at 17000 yen which is around $150. Planned to go as high as 10000 yen but it was well worth it as I saw another Panorama Cotton without the cup went for 12000 yen not long after...
on eBay I haven't gotten myself in the bidding war. Simply it's going beyond my estimate I simply wait for another auction...

Akumajo Dracula XX (JP Castlevania Dracula X) for Super Famicom.
*11* FAILED ATTEMPTS!
Then finally a guy in Japan sold me a complete copy for 38 bucks.
