For all those of you who had played the NES version of California Games, besides the use of "Louie Louie" as the title theme (the instruction book does give credit to its songwriter, Richard Berry) and a "Jimmy Hart version" of "Wipeout" used for the Surfing event stage, what familiar songs can you make out from the themes for the Half Pipe, Foot Bag, Skating, BMX and Flying Disc event stages?

I know the Flying Disc event tune is pure David Wise right there for you, since the game was developed by Rare, Ltd. To me, it sounds like a rejected song from Wizards & Warriors, another NES game Rare developed.

"Suspiciously Similar Sounding Songs?"

Loving the alliteration.

Are you sure about that? The C64 version features the same Flying Disc song, and that was the original version made by Epyx.

I can spot part of the Foot Bag theme as being a rip off of "I'm a Man" (similar to a part of Flash Man's theme in Mega Man 2, also released in 1989).

The "Half Pipe" music seems to be a "Jimmy Hart version" of The Who's "I Can't Explain" which itself formed the foundation of the groove of "Metropolis Zone" from Sonic 2 and "Walk Idiot Walk" by The Hives.
