What did you guys get for this steam sales event?!?!?
So far I just picked up Borderlands GOTY edition for 7.49. Never played it and buddy of mines like all over my case about getting it and beating it and getting 2 because i'll supposedly love it... So we shall see!

Didn't get anything on Steam, but I purchased Might and Magic 1-6 on GOG for $5. I would have purchased the complete collection for $25, but I've never played a Heroes of Might and Magic game so don't know if they're any good. The entire collection for $25 sale is over now.

Nothing for myself, so far. Got a friend the Time Gentlemen, Please + Ben There, Dan That two pack for $1.
Man, I don't know... Looking at the first two days of this sale, it just seems like they keep putting the same games up for sale over and over. Mirror's Edge, Batman Arkham Asylum, etc, etc. Same old games we bought last year for $4.99. I hope we see some new stuff thrown into the mix and the super reduced prices. (Crysis 2 would be nice)

Grabbed Torchlight 2 for $9.99, thought about Borderlands 2 but even at $29.99 it isn't such a great deal as the season pass still costs $29.99 as well, just gonna wait on GOTY edition at this point.
I suggest Arma II: Combined Operations to anyone who hasn't purchased it as the DayZ mod is to date one of the best games out there, it's at -40% atm but i'm sure it will be -50-75% soon.

... that goes down to $5 during every sale. Always. Hell it was on sale at Amazon (steam key) for less!
I haven't really bought anything, I already own a ton of stuff from past sales, Amazon, and indie bundles. I'm spending more money on GOG this year.

Every Steam Holiday sale is someone's first.
Crysis 2 is almost guaranteed to hit super sale status; it was five bucks or something similar three weeks ago during the Thanksgiving sale. Look out for the Crysis Complete bundle, where you receive all three games for eight bucks.

Yeah, it's bound to hit 75% eventually. I'm (not so) patiently waiting.

Steam has indeed been quite disappointing this year so far. GreenManGaming and Amazon.com have both had considerably better deals so far (and ironically, both are selling Steam keys). GreenManGaming, for instance, has a 30% off coupon which you can apparently use an unlimited number of times; I just picked up Resident Evil 5 for $7. And word is that Scribblenauts Unlimited will be 75% off on Amazon on Monday ($7.50) as opposed to Steam's opening offer of 33% off. Amazon even undercut Steam on the Darksiders franchise deal, offering a price lower by 40 cents plus a season pass and some additional credit to boot.
I am holding out for a deal on Retro City Rampage and Sonic 4 Episode II.
[EDIT: Whoops, that's Resident Evil 5...]

Nice, totally forgot about Amazon.
Just went there and found that they have the complete Kingdoms of Amalur w/expansions (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009YLKBQY/ref=s9_al_ft_g367_ir02?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_r=10MXADHYXDFSKNHF4A53&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_p=1446802642&pf_rd_i=1000716161) for $11.99, seriously probably the lowest that will ever go and a heck of a deal on a very decent game.

I picked up Dark Void Zero from GMG, it cost me about $1.70 with their coupon.

I got Psychonauts just a little while ago. Brutal Legend turned me into a Tim Schafer fan.
I'm trying to cut back on just buying shit for the sake of buying shit. I have so many games floating on my backlog right now, and I'm trying to get thru Fallout 3, but I'm only half way done with that game (if that).
I see some of these really good deals on games that I don't have, but I just don't know when I'll ever get to the game. I bought Rage a number of months back from newegg for like 5 bucks. I still have it sealed just sitting on my desk. I've got a number of games on Steam and from Amazon and stuff like that that I've barely touched. Green Man Gaming has Arkham City, GOTY version for $5.50 after you use a special code at checkout. I'm extremely tempted by that deal, just cause it's such a good deal, but I honestly don't have the slightest idea when I'll be able to actually get to that game.
I've got to stay strong and resist the temptation, lol.
I will say that if I see Crysis 2 for $5, I'll buy it. If I see it for $7.50, I'll pass.

Aside from Indie Bundles, I don't buy many Steam games these days. I'm mainly keeping my eye on a few point-and-click games that I'm interested in and a few others that are currently cheap.
What if it is $6.25?
I'm going to have to pass. I actually made a rule for myself awhile back. I promised myself that I wouldn't buy ANY game priced over $5. I made this declaration because my backlog was just starting to turn into an avalanche.
The amazing thing is, there are games that are below $5 that I'm seeing here and there, and I have to turn them down as well. Newegg or somebody had Fallout: New Vegas for 4 bucks. Green Man Gaming or somebody had Tomb Raider Anniversary for like $1.80 or something crazy like that. There was also that THQ bundle where I could have got a bunch of games for like 1 buck each. Still, I passed on all of that, because I need to be way more selective now. It's the only way I can cope with my neverending backlog.
At a certain point you have to draw a line in the sand and promise yourself that you'll never cross that line.

Wanna send any extra willpower my way? My backlog is also quite sizable, from classics to those Indie Bundles.

Yes, don't forget that the Humble Indie Bundle 7 is still active. Not the greatest, but they're probably going to add more later:
"The Binding of Isaac (and its DLC, Wrath of the Lamb), Closure, Shank 2, Snapshot, and Indie Game: The Movie! And if you pay over the average, you’ll also get Dungeon Defenders (and its DLC) and Legend of Grimrock!"
I'm still debating on whether I should beat the average. On the one hand, $6.40 for all that Dungeon Defenders DLC easily beats even Steam's price at the moment. On the other hand, I already own Dungeon Defenders and cannot imagine when I might actually get around to playing it.

If you don't want Dungeon Defenders, you can always give away the key to someone as a gift.

Well, to be fair, that's not an implicit "no, don't do that". One of the previous bundles later added a reduced version of the bundle just before it. I already had that and passed it off to a friend. I believe they just don't want you selling the codes.

I've given away tons of dupe codes at various forums.
Let them complain, most of those codes were for games I'd already bought. :P

Of course, the "estimated list price" for this on just dropped to $15, so it's not quite the deal it once was. Nonetheless, how can you argue with $2.62 ?

Didn't get anything on Steam, but I purchased Might and Magic 1-6 on GOG for $5. I would have purchased the complete collection for $25, but I've never played a Heroes of Might and Magic game so don't know if they're any good. The entire collection for $25 sale is over now.
The Heroes games are awesome. I've never actually played a standard M&M game but Heroes 3 is probably my most played classic game of all time.

So far just the DLC for Serious Sam 3, which is 75% off. I see that Half-Minute Hero is $3.39 right now. That was one of my favorite PSP games, I might pick that up.

Squeenix had this listed on Steam for $40 for several months. They just recently dropped the price down to something more reasonable. So yes, if you don't own this on console, get the PC version.

So far I have gotten:
Oblivion GOTY - $4.99
Half-Life Complete- $9.99
Holding off on any recent releases until I see if my wife got me any for Christmas. If she did, hopefully she got them when they were cheap on Amazon!

Amazon had Batman Asylum GOTY and Batman City GOTY in a combo pack for $9.99 at the same time, really good idea to price check with Amazon, though $15 still not bad.

I heard some people saying that Dota 2 was eventually going to be free?
I'm buying Magical Drop V and Rocketbirds at the moment. I'm still really annoyed that I missed Dead Rising 2, but apparently they are extending the sale for another two days, so it might yet come up.
I got Spec Ops: The Line for $2.49 on Amazon yesterday. If I had only waited a little longer, I could have gotten Bioshock 1+2 as well, but I thought the sale was ending. :(

DOTA 2 IS FREE. Valve is giving away tons of free copies of the game everywhere. You're only buying items like on TF2 and "access", and probably a stupid item that will only take up space in your backpack.
