Okay, so I picked up a Lot of video games off Craigslist for $900 this weekend. I got a lot of weird stuff including an Odyssey, Fairchild, astrocade, Arcadia 2001. But the thing that makes me nervous is the Neo Geo and 6 games.

So how durable is every thing. Should boxes be horizontal or vertical? Instructions left in? Keep it in a cabinet or out? Its in my basement so no direct sunlight although may get a little dust.

Are they AES or MVS? Either way, treat them just as well as any of your other games. Only at neogeo.com, do collectors treat them like diamonds. Some are more expensive than diamonds but usually only certain AES carts.

I have many of my AES (home cart) games in a simple shelf out of the sunlight. There are actually three styles of game box that I know of: A more plastic kind (which should be pretty durable) found in newer games; cardboard boxes for a few early releases in Japan, and more flexible PVC-like material for most US releases, which is probably what you have. These last might yellow slightly with age but it seems unavoidable. I haven't had any problems with the cases. For the vinyl type, you might try stacking them flat. I haven't thought about doing anything with the instructions from these - I think they will be fine as they are. I haven't seen any PVC related fouling on manuals in mine, though I didn't look specifically. Interesting question.
