Okay, so I keep seeing references to the fact that Shenmue was supposed to be a 16 part series... yet there is only one US game and two Europe... what's the story?

It's not over yet. If I'm not mistaken:

Shenmue: Chapter 1
Shenmue 2: Chapters 2-4

Shenmue 2 was released in the US on the XBox.

Ah... right. I guess I'll continue to be several years behind the curve.

I thought it was meant as a 12-parter? I could be wrong though.

It was just over-ambition by the sounds of it. The chances of a 12-16 part game appearing on one console (to enable saved games continuity) was pretty unlikely whatever console it started on. I think it's stilll in development though.

Well, according to a press conference or something, the 16 chapters will engulf, if I'm not mistaken, 4 games.

I'm too lazy to check fan sites.

Yeah... that's pretty cool. I guess I should actually play through the first one so I can get ready for the next... though I don't see myself with an xbox for a long time.
