Okay, I'm not a technical expert but I got my Sega CD working and it does the planets sceen. The lights flash and the CD tray goes in and out. I've changed a little band that lifts the Laser assembly but it still isn't going up. Even turning it by hand it seems hard to get the laser assembly up.

So I figure the Motor that drives the laser assembly up is week And needs replaced Or else there is some kind of counter weight Or spring on the laser assembly That isn't working to help lift it.

If it is the motor, does anyone know how hard it is to find a replacement and change?

Is it the Sony drive you have? It may very well have a busted Helix screw.

Have a look at this and compare.
