Can these still be bought new for original Xbox systems, and where?

cant buy them new but the lasers you can i have a spare one its a samsung.

Mine is a Thomson drive, and the drawer is stuck. I do not believe there is a problem with the laser.

drive belt replacement common fault i am unsure of the size i have some of them drives.

Have you tried taking the top off of the disc tray to see if it will open then?

Have you given it a good whack? I have the same problem with mine only when no disc is present. It would appear that the spindle magnet is a little too strong, although mine is a Samsung so you might have a different problem.
