What's the going value on these? There is one for sale on my local Craigslist and they want $100 for it. I've got a model 2 Sega CD and several Genesis consoles. I've never seen an X'Eye in the wild and I must admit I'm tempted to go pick it up! Thanks in advance for any advice, the system is pictured with 2 controllers and hookups, no box and no games other than a bootleg looking copy of Sonic.

I gave $45 shipped for mine without a power cord and I'm glad I didn't pay any more, they're probably worth $70~$100 by the books but after getting the thing and holding it, it's really cheaply made I just couldn't see myself paying that. If your looking to use it and replace your combo with it I'd say not to do it, put like $20 more down and get a CDX off ebay.

Good advice, thanks. I'd much rather have a CDX anyway!

CDX is easier to play Master System games than X'Eye, with Power Base Converter just a tight fit.
Yet obviously more difficult to repair / modify. Very little space for any potential additions like video jacks and region switches.

They X'eye is pretty decent, and that price is maybe just a bit below market. If you could haggle the guy down to about $80 I would say jump on it.
Just make sure it has the original power supply as well (not a Genesis model 2 power supply), and the original JVC branded controller. Otherwise it's probably not worth the money.

I have an X'eye and love it. I had a model 1 genesis and model 2 sega cd years ago and a cdx more recently. the x'eye size wise is in the middle. The cdx didn't work with all sega cd games (Jurassic Park and Terminator come to mind) but those games work on the x'eye. Doesn't feel cheap to me either.

I love my x'eye as well.
Idk but it seems to me the audio is better than most genesis models as well.
Only annoyance I have is the drive is kinda noisy, maybe its just me though. It sounds like someone scraping the outside of a soda can with a metal file.

Maybe it’s just me but the dust cover is like it’s made out of paper, I feel like I’m going to break it when I put in a cart and the plastic not filed off the edges or it’s not fit in right because the dust cover sticks open when I remove a cart.
I had to open it to fix the laser when I got it and everything inside looked to be the same quality as the dust cover, IIRC the motherboard is held in with only two screws, just not the build quality as the model 1/ 2 combos or the CDX.

I love my JVC X'Eye. I sold off my Genesis/ Sega CD combos. No regrets.
