I posted a couple of weeks ago about a problem I had with a Timesplitters 2 save file on the Gamecube. Basically, my file was corrupted. Anyway, I decided to play through it again and have now got further than I did previously in a short amount of time, so I guess it's a case of all's well that ends well.
Or so I thought...
I am on the Robot Factory level (I think the second to last level in the game) and it keeps crashing. Not every time, but it has crashed a couple of times. The game just freezes up and I have to reset the console. Of course, the last time it happened was when I was doing well on the level and thinking I might beat it this time. Is this a known issue with Timesplitters 2? Or just the Cube version of Timesplitters 2? The game was bought brand new and has no scratches or anything. It's in mint condition. In any case, I am not aware that the Cube reads the disc when playing Timesplitters 2 - only in between levels (of course).
I am thinking of selling the Cube and getting a Dreamcast again. Maybe when I have completed TS2...

You are going to sell your Cube just because 1 game doesn't work properly? O_O

No, but I think it would be a good reason! :-D But the Dreamcast has more games and better games than the Cube. But the last DC I had broke after just a few weeks (bad laser assembley), so I am a little wary. I would still keep my SNES but the GC just isn't cutting it with me. Yes, I have Metroid Prime but the novelty has worn off a little. Great game but I can't see myself going back to it once I've finished it. I used to have Mario Sunshine but hated it (it's not a platform game, despite it's pretentions... it's a freakin' Zelda-but-worse-than-Zelda RPG). Anyway, the upcoming F-Zero and Mario Kart DD might just persuade me to keep my Cube. But, overall, I have been terribly disappointed by the games that have come out for it. It just seems that Nintendo have lost that innovative spark they once had.
Anyway, anyone had any similar problems with Timesplitters 2?

I haven't heard of anything like that with Timesplitters 2, but I do suggest you try Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness and the new Zelda. All excellent games.
And Mario Sunshine an RPG? Hardly, you don't collect anything. You don't get new items, you don't get new weapons. You just run around from the begining of the level to the end of the level... identical to Mario 64.
I have TimeSplitters 2 for the Cube and I have conquered it on easy medium and hard mode. I've played four player and I think I also played soccer with it and it has jet to freeze on me. This game is the best thing to happen to 4 player!!!! :D

I need to clarify what I said about Mario Sunshine. I didn't mean to say it IS in RPG, merely that it plays a lot like Zelda. It doesn't even feel like Mario anymore. It totally bored me. The water cannon wasn't that original... just a cross between Jet Grind Radio for the Dreamcast and Ignition Factor for the SNES.
Anyway, in a way I am glad that no-one else has had this problem with Timesplitters 2. I will play it again and, surely, I will finish the Robot Factory level without it freezing on me...I hope!

If the game keeps freezing you should contact the manufacturer for a replacement....maybe the disc is defective. If you don't have problems with other discs, it most likely is not your system...but don't rule that out. Defects happen with everything. Hell, I have a Primal Rage cart for the Genesis that is dead after I tried to play it today. All game hardware can go bad...
EDIT: I just thought of something....perhaps your memory card is at fault?

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, if it keeps happening I can always just return to EB under their lifetime guarantee policy. I don't believe it's my system because I've never had this trouble with other Cube games. This is the only game it has happened on and it's not when the disc is being read (when things are most likely to go wrong). Also, because it's happening in the middle of a level, I am sure it is not anything to do with the memory card, because that is only accessed before and after each level. The data on the card is not needed when the game/level is running.

No, it's a Madcatz one. I have a Madcatz 1x and a Madcatz 4x. The 1x was the one my save file was stored on. People have since told me I shouldn't have bought a 3rd party memory card. I guess I did it cuz they were slightly cheaper, plus I figured Madcatz were a reasonably respected company.
