Why do you often find GP in the final dungeon?

Especially since in most RPGs, once you enter that final dungeon, there is no turning back. So its not like you can use the money anyway. What gives?

Must be talking about Grandia. It doesn't make sense. Why it's so funny. Now games like The Last Story there is chapters after the final battle.

... How did you know that? *Quickly looks around for hidden cameras*

I'm going to assume that it's due to realism. In real life, if you were an adventurer, would that be the "Last Dungeon" you ever go into? So, assuming that "Life Goes On" after you defeat supermcbaddy, you would still live life, so finding things in said dungeon would make sense. Just saying is all man, just saying. I know it's a game, but it is what it is. Plus, all games don't let you know it's the last dungeon, so if you entered a dungeon and went straight to a boss battle that was really powerful, you would know for sure. Suspension of high expectations, I suppose. Might trick you into thinking there is more coming.

Look at my name. I'm a big Grandia fan. I played the games a few times and that always stuck with me as hilarious.:p

Which RPG's are you talking about? In my experiences the final dungeon is usually a treasure trove of secret items, weapons, and gold that can be used to complete the rest of the game's side quests and super bosses.

I imagine it's more to do with programming ease over any sort of realism. I mean, how realistic is it for a giant ice-covered dragon to drop gold anyway?

Why bother with the effort of programming out the random GP drops when it makes no difference. What makes even less sense is the last boss giving you like a zillion experience points...

As mentioned twice before. Grandia

Then you'd probably like Star Ocean: Blue Sphere, in which no enemies drop money and you only find money a handful of times earlier on in the game. The game expects you to be smart with that money and invest it in, say, a frying pan and some meat (or whatever other Item Creation tools and materials you want), make some nice items, and sell for a big profit.

Cave creatures have a penchant for stealing shiny things. I don't care if I sound bigoted, 8 eyes and bandersnatches are a scurrilous lot
