I just can't get enough of compilations of classic games on new systems. I purchased Sonic Mega Collection and Namco Museum for the GC awhile back and love em. I also purchased Atari Anniversary Advance (since I have the GC player) and that is great as well...aside from some control difficulty here and there...but still great stuff. I just purchased the Konami Advanced Collection on ebay since I see it has some great games including Time Pilot in there. And, I am eagerly waiting for Midway's compilation on the GC as it looks as if it is going to include ALOT of classic games. Anyone else have a love for classic gaming conpilations on new consoles?

I just picked up Namco Museum for GBA today and its great. I forgot how addicting some of those games are. I'm waiting for price drops on the other ones though...I still think $20 is too much for a compilation of old games.

I've got all of the domestically released classic arcade game compilations for the Playstation (at least, I think I do). I also have Namco Museum, Konami Arcade Classics, Pac-Man Collection, and Atari Anniversary for my GBA (just got that one today for $15).
I especially love the classic games on the GBA, because it's like an arcade circa 1980-85 in your pocket.
EDIT: corrected a typo so that I could retain cred as a gramer notsi

I love compilations too, but limited funds means I only presently have Arcade's Greatest Hits for the SNES. I'd like the Sonic Mega Collection for the GC but, as I say, don't have the money right now. But I will keep an eye out for it on ebay!

I believe I paid $14.99 for Sonic Mega at EBgames. It was used however, but in mint condition. Not a bad deal...and possibly better than you will get on ebay.

Really? I may have to look into that. I have an EB card so I would get an additional 10% off too. I've just got so into the habit of just looking at the SNES games that I often overlook the pre-owned GC games in the store.

You can witness my obsession with retro compilations here (http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/edit/).
I want to get a GBA specifically because of the large number of retro comps on that machine. That said, it's not like my GBC is hurting for retro titles. ;)

Yeah, PDF, get with the times and make the investment for the GBA SP. Then read my FAQ for Konami's Arcade Classics. :-D

Seriously, PDF. You gotta get modern to get retro in front-lit style. Just think, when things get shitty at work, you can stab--RUSSIAN SOLDIERS! And deliver kicks in the groin--TO BUCHU!
No curses from me today, as being trapped in the GBC era is accursed enough!

Retro compilations don't do much for me. If they had made all of the games available right off the bat, and had been a little more encompassing (Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic CD) I would have warmed up a little more to the idea of the Mega Collection.

I only have the Namco Mueseum for PS2 ...I love Dig Dug.
I am seriosly considering the Activision Classics to quench my Atari curiosity.

I want the japanese version....I hear it includes Comix Zone. Why they removed that from the US version is beyond me.

Actually, I guess I'm not all that excited about compilations of console games. It's the compilations of emulated arcade games that make me happy.

From what I understand, Comix Zone is a very rare Megadrive game in Japan, which could have something to do with it. I know it's in a lot of Sega PC packs over here in the US.

Agreed, I could really go for a compilation that had Tapper on it, come to think of it. I guess I'm just jaded from all the GBA repackaging, Super Mario World, Ghosts and Goblins, etc.

Yeah, Tapper on GBA would be cool. I might actually get good at it. You did mean GBA, right? Because you can play it on Playstation on Arcade's Greatest Hits: Midway Collection 2.

Also on the N64... Tapper rules!

Not specifically, I meant in general. This Midway Collection shall be something to look into.

Count me in as a compilations fanatic. I've gotten every single one I could on the PSX/GBA/GC/ etc. However, it's kind of ironic in that this age of emulators a-plenty (especially on the Xbox where you can get pretty much any classic console and arcade game ya want.. often times emulated somewhat better than on the compilations). I STILL buy the official compilations because 1. I wanna support them and 2. They're just nifty :D

I agree that the compilations must be purchased despite MAME for the total nifty factor and to demonstrate support for even more future endeavors.
For me, MAME isn't really a factor, because I haven't yet taken the MAME plunge. Since Kid Fenris showed me this cool thing called ESP Ra De, though, (and it's never going to be released for a home console) I may have to learn the wayz of the r0mz d00dz.

I don't normally spring for console emulation, but I gotta give props to the IMBNES guys. In lieu of MAME for even the simplest games on the PS1, IMBNES lets me play Donkey Kong on that machine, which is what it's all about.
The reason I dig arcade emus on the PS1 is because sometimes my PC just isn't up to the task, and because I have a kick-ass arcade joystick for the PS1. So yeah, if there's an arcade game collection for the PS1, I'm on it.
That said, I'm in the market for the Bubble Bobble collection for PS1 after the Expo's over. ;)

Nothing for Zanac X Zanac on the psx? It had several versions of the original Zanac game ;)
