For those who don't want to jailbreak their iOS devices, MAME is back on The App Store!

the correct MAME set to use on this version is 139u1
Roms can be side-loaded into the the app folder GRIDLEE>DOCUMENTS>ROMS.
I'd recommend this free program: iFunbox http://www.i-funbox.com/
I have the earlier version of iMAME on my devices so I haven't had a chance to play with this version, but it seems to be a more recent build.

Griddle is the name on this eh? That takes me back to the 90s irc days with Mame. I haven't used it in about that long too so I bet it would be a pain to get started again as i know it never was much friendly with rom types and file names being all picky. Does this support the iCade I wonder?

Apparently, yes iCade and compatible Bluetooth controllers supported.

Perhaps I need to try and find something basic like super dodgeball or galaga and see what shakes out.

Can't seem to find where the rom folder is or where it should be by name at least.
I installed it then removed it. To be honest the response time on it sucked pretty hard even with my iCade. I couldn't do shit in my favorite game right (Super Dodgeball) and Galaga wouldn't even load bitching about missing files. Ms PacMan was ok, but didn't handle as well as the app that exists on trial there now. The only one I liked and ran right I grabbed seemed to be Donkey Kong. DK Jr ran fast, and Ghosts n Goblins had slight input lag and the sound was awful, some some busted synth audio that was fairly off and tinny.

I was wrong about the specific rom set, the correct MAME set to use on this version is 139u1 this will minimize "missing file" or other compatibility errors.
However, in my tests, on an iPad 2 running iOS6 I didn't encounter any noticeable "input lag" via iCade or on-screen controls. At least no different than the original.
This is a completely different build of MAME than the original that made it to the app store, different compatibility, a bunch of games that don't show up in that version are playable in this one.
Overall I think I'm going to stick to the first version of iMAME and keep this one for those few games that I love that didn't boot in that one.

Just downloaded it! Now I wonder what game limitations it has if any.

I'll also pick this up just in case it gets removed.

If only developers could do this with more emulators like NES SNES Genesis N64 and so on and so forth that would be amazing

Is anybody here good with doing rom-set fixes in CLRMAMEPRO?
I'm having hell of a time finding the necessary files to edit a fullset to this optimized version #.
Hit me up via PM if you have any advice.
