View Full Version : Power Strike....I thought this game was worth a few bucks?

Today I picked up Power Strike (SMS) complete for $5 at a local used game shop. I was pretty happy about it since I've been hoping to find this game for a long time. It was even the rarer version with the monochromatic packaging. I knew the DP7 guide lists it as R7/$35, but I checked out completed Power Strike auctions on ebay for the hell of it and they were all real low ($12,$16, $8) for complete carts.
Why are these selling so cheap? I don't follow the SMS scene, but do the rare titles usually sell that low or is it just a bad time to sell stuff on ebay?

Yup. I've stopped selling altogether until the fall.
However, I'm buying like I've never bought before....

Keep in mind that there are two versions of Power Strike. The one that has a black/white cover and was a mail in exclusive (although Toys R US had tons of these for some reason toward the end of the SMS) and a color cover version, which is a European release. The color cover version can be had for a few bucks, but the b/w version (USA release) is the one that sells for more usually.
EDIT: I see you already noticed the variation. I am not sure why the sales are down now, but it wasn't too long ago I saw these going for $40 or more on ebay. Hang onto it for awhile!

Seeing how rare the game is, I'm very lucky to have gotten it free from my friend in complete condition with the box,manual,and the game of course. :D

I just got the color version from Canada. Even though the blue and white one is rarer, I like the way this one looks better. I got it for $30 including shipping off Ebay :embarrassed: One of those, I want it wins - I'd say the color version is probably worth closer 20 - at least to get it in the US.

It's a fun game if you get past the initial learning curve. Once you get your weapons built up though, DEAR GOD DON"T GET SHOT!!!!!!!!! If you do..spawn DIE..spawn DIE...spawn DIE until the little shippies are all gone. @_@

Yup, I found it real similar to games like life force and especially stinger where if you have all your weapons and speed, then you are bad ass gamer supreme. But let one stray "missile" hit you and you become this geriatric weakling of a ship :angry:
