View Full Version : List of Xbox games incompatible with Xbox 360
Wikipedia has an article about games which are compatible with the Xbox 360 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360), but not a listing of Xbox games which are incompatible with the 360. So that's where DP shows up!

What's the point? If it's not on the list, it's not compatible. There's no middle ground where maybe a game was missed that could run on the emulator. It's hard coded by title and the compatibility list was publicly released as it was updated. So we know with 100% certainly what Microsoft considers compatible and if it's not on the list, it won't even try to run.

I can only add the one game that passed my by on the XBox and that is MK: Shaolin Monks. What a fun Coop time. Wish they would release a HD remake or sequel.

Two more disappointments for me would be Capcom Classics Collection Volume 1 and 2 not being made compatible.
And I wish Atari Anthology had been made an Xbox Original. It was one of the few HD Xbox games and it runs great on the 360 when outputting in HD. I'd of liked the opportunity to rebuy it as a download since the lack of convenience is the only reason it doesn't see use even more often. But I guess that's another subject.

Judging by how poorly the SF Anniversary Collection runs on 360, I'd say it isn't much of loss.

CCC1&2 were done by Digital Eclipse and their Atari Anthology is one of the best running original Xbox games on the 360. So you never know. And it wouldn't surprise me if it was compatible to find that half of Volume 1 ran poorly while the remaining games and Volume 2 ran well or vice versa. A healthy chunk of Volume 1 were ports of Capcom source code from their last gen Generations lineup while the rest of the lineup and the sequel was Digital Eclipse emulation work.
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection seems to have been programmed internally at Capcom.

Man, I forgot how bad that was. No super jump was worth the slow down.
the Chronicles of Riddick was never made BC, was it? It's not on the Wikipedia list, and I know that I eventually gave up on it and bought Escape From the Dark Athena or whatever the re-release plus expansion was called.
Neither of the Otogi games were ever made backwards compatible.
Gunvalkyrie is not backwards compatible. This is probably OK.
The port of MGS2: Substance is not backwards compatible.
Voodoo Vince is not backwards compatible, which sucks.

A more interesting and useful list than this would be to work towards a detailed description of performance for each game that was made compatible that list major problems if any and perhaps some thoughts on their appearance upscaled on an HDTV. And more important than that, denote the games that are largely problem free that could be recommended to play on a 360.
And another useful thing would be to denote what has seen release in native form on the Xbox 360. Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Chronicles of Riddick, Halo, and likely quite a few others are available as proper Xbox 360 releases today. And a few games were released on both platforms side by side early in the 360's life like King Kong, Call of Duty 3, the Lego Star Wars games, and several others. At least a few of these have appeared on the backwards compatibility list despite the existence of a proper 360 version.

It never was, so the HD rerelease was nice to see since it was one of the higher profile omissions.

"The Chronicles of Riddick" omission had to do with the overall programming I believe. In addition, the version included on "Assault on Dark Athena" had a lot of different changes from the original besides the obvious graphical and music.
