I was wanting to pick up both the DP Collector's guides. Sadly, the classic guide is sold out. Does anyone know if there are plans to sell these again?

I wish, but it would need to be re-written again from scratch. We now know so much more about how scarce certain games are, and prices have changed wildly since the guide was printed.

Updating some values and rarity numbers hardly warrants rewriting the entire thing from scratch.

I agree. I want to buy it as it was in the seventh edition regardless.

Well to be fair, a price and rarity guide aren't very useful if they aren't accurate and up to date.

Perhaps an easier possibility would be to come up with a smartphone app version of the online database which can be more easily updated.

Depends on what you're using it for. The rarity number and value is just a tiny fraction of all the text/info in the guide. If you click the link in the opening post and look at the sample pages, you can see that there are paragraphs of other info. I know I still refer to the online guide regularly, even with some of the values being out of date. Really, not a ton of rarity numbers would have to be updated anyway. Outside of unusual circumstances, like a game seeing tons of copies destroyed or a big warehouse discovery, rarity is pretty static. Just because a value shoots up, it doesn't mean the game is suddenly any rarer. Research needs to be done on the rarity of newer games, but the older stuff is pretty well set. For example, Stadium Events may be a lot more valuable now, but the rarity guide already has it at 9, the highest rating.

When was the last edition printed? I was under the impression that it was a really long time ago.

The rarity and value isn't the main reason I want it. Those are nice, but I'm more interested in the other content. For me the rarity and value aren't a huge deal anyways as the majority of the games I'm looking for aren't rare.

According to that link, 2002. But I think that might be talking about the 1st edition.
