Can you take a modded PSP 2000 and do an update from UMD to go back to Official Firmware??

guys I got a PSP that had 5.50 CFW but I want to use to play UMD games and the latest few with the higher firmware. I already have a psp1000 that I use for homebrew, etc. So I would rather just take it to an official firmware.

So can you just put in a UMD and update to the newer firmware? I don't want to brick this thing trying to play Final Fantasy IV complete.

You should be fine just to install latest official firmware, either from umd or the internet.

Could always update your CFW too. I remember playing FFIV with no problems.
