Ok, so this will probably contain spoilers if you haven't played through the game.
Alright, I'm the Song of Nephilim and every enemy is just RAPING me goatse stlye. Hardcore 13" anal excavation. Absolutely absurd. I didn't have too much trouble with the first tower, got to the second tower, saved... now I'm in the second tower and EVERYTHING is just seriously destroying me. I can't get farther than 2 enemy sets down without getting slaughtered.
Anyone else have this problem, and if so, what did you do to protect against the absolute ridiculous attacks of these guys? If I just need to go out and level (if that means leaving nephilim, if I can, I'll do it but ugh), where did you go?

Yup, I crusied through the game until I got to that point and then the enemies started to really challenge me.
Best thing to do is to level up, make sure you max out your favorite skills and combos and use them a lot, and save up money for the best AGWS.
Or if you have a device you can do what I did and cheat a little -- I downloaded a save from the Song so I could finish it without spending the time on it. :D

Actually, I heard a Dexdrive will work with PS2 cards. I haven't tried it yet, though.

Thanks dude, but the time is not yet right. I'm waiting to visit it when I'm at a cyber-cafe with a hot date. Don't ruin it for me!

look i thought that part was pretty easy when i played through xenosaga. if you have problems with the enemies you should try the metal gear solid thing and try to sneak past them. if not, just level up, its the best thing to do when you're stuck in an rpg, unless the enemies level up as well :^)

I'm still in Chapter 1, when the Ghosis invade the ship and Kos-Mos wakes up and damn confused. I think I need to buy the book tommorrow. How the heck do I get the vaporizer weapon equipped so I can blast crates (to get items) and get away from the Gnoisis (as told in the walkthrough I downloaded).
...Elly?! O_O

Oh come on guys, if you just plan ahead as you play any RPG can be a breeze. I found some good techs, spent maybe an hour leveling here and there, and just ate that game alive. RPGs are almost always easy like that. I kind of wish Xenosaga was a lot harder.

the easiest way i found to handle this game is to not even bother with the agws's. the agws in this game are a complete waste of time and money as far as i was concerned. i went through the entire game without using them. i only used them once or twice to see what they did. just use all your money to buy accesories and clothes for your characters and you'll be fine. and to prove another point on how easy this game must be, while playing i forgot how to assign new magic spells and abilities as you learned them though spending your ether points. so i went through the entire game with only the magic and abilities the characters are originally assigned at the begining of the game. god that sucked when i finally realized what i could have been using the whole time. :o

Agreed.
Take your time and level up. If the enemies are too hard, you went too fast. The entire game is really quite easy if you do this.

I've since beat the game, but it really shouldn't be neccesary for me to go around and level up for an hour, in any RPG, just to be able to get through it. I want a challenge, and by challenge I don't mean spend 2 hours mastering this skill to kill this boss, I mean just hard boss fights that aren't winnable by just going out and gaining levels. It's a shitty system, and I try my best to just go through any RPG without spending anytime leveling up. I figure it should be doable in any game, and that's the way the game designers have made it. Now, if I can't even get past the normal random battles, that's just a joke... then i have to go to previous battles and level up just to get through the next set of random battles? Dumb. Some games are really good about this, and some are terrible and have no idea how to gague difficulty. Xenosaga wasn't bad in this respect but the jump was way too massive.

Possibly a dumb question: How excatly you use the Skills?

I don't really remember, it was a long time ago (August!)... but I think you have to assign them to a certain attack combination (Triangle -> Triangle -> Square), then get enough... action points(?) to be able to execute it. Eventually you can use them with 4ap instead of 6.
