Very RARE! Retro! Did I say How RARE this is? Funny how this is being used, what's your take?

Man, am I getting sick of this! Price gouging,imports, even Mom and pop stores! Everybody rips gamestop but I was in there Saturday and Pick up Quake 4 mint condition with bonus CD For $4.49! No this game is not RARE yet! but will be very soon when the next consoles come out this Christmas.Ha! There really are only a few rare games out there,and yes there are some very hard to find games. Come on,Now the Last story is now RARE! :onfire:

Also certain youtube videos out their....


Their alot of people out their posting/ and buying just to resell out their that ruin the "Game Hunt" sometimes.....

I mean i give a example that well known...


PS1 Suikoden 2.... Everyone Claims it RARE but it not.... but yet they say it is and every copy out their has $100+ on it.... their over 100+ Copies online right now... more than the true "RARE" games

What i love is when PS1 games are brought to Playstation Network, or Remade for newer generation and right away all this people that had the game for $100+ cut down their prices to nothing.....


That why ia m waiting for Suikoden 2 to be made into PSN >.> just so i can be to those people in ur face for being greedy. Something that happened recently with Pikmins 2 GC versions always 60-120$ with Wii version Pikimin 2 released for $20 all hell broke lose for that game for Gamecube. ( Loved It, and picked brand new copy at local store)

And now i been going to flea market and everyone claims that their games are Rare and get their prices off online

I've seen "RARE" used to describe sonic 2 for the genesis. It's just a bullshit term everyone flings around nowadays.

Indeed. I swear this type of thread was already around for quite some time when I joined Digital Press... back in 2002. As for price gouging, it's generational -- games that are 15 to 25 years old become the target of price speculations since many people getting on their first console nostalgia trip do so as young adults in their 20s, and of course the nostalgia is focused on the consoles that were around during those twentysomethings' childhood.

For instance, when I started coming here 11 years ago, nostalgia for the pre-crash consoles was high. People pinned for their Atari 2600s, Intellivisions and the like. Now, that has calmed down (except for truly rare items). I expect that within the next 5 years, prices will get back to a "normal" level for the NES-era common games, and so on, and so forth.

I used to be into action figures for a while and this is true there also. Anything seems to instantly become RARE!!!!! on eBay. To compound matters further most of the local stores use eBay as their pricing scheme. Meaning they use the highest BIN currently open and that's the price. Inacccurate and annoying to the point I hardly shop there and prefer to get my stuff either from here, AA, or in some instances eBay since usually the highest BIN is not the average price sold and I can get it cheaper there.
I also love how some people post popular games for insane prices. Like the guy on one of the trading sites I've been a member of on Facebook who wanted 45.00 for a copy of Super Metroid. Cart only and unkown condition because he couldnt be bothered to post pictures.:roll:
