Sad when people kill themselves, but still have no idea who this guy is.

Edit: Oh, this guy > http://blog.pricecharting.com/2011/08/13000-nes-001-on-storage-wars.html

He's the guy who was on the show "Storage Wars", who thought a dirty old NES system he found in a locker was worth thousands. He actually wasn't one of the main characters, he only appeared in a couple episodes as far as I know.

yeah someone offing themselves like that is no joking matter.

They used him as a mr Money bags kinda character that had more money then brains kinda deal. Would show up with a new pick up on 26 inch rims done up and such and show up with like 50+k for each auction balla status.

They generally kept him as a rotational Heel character (you wrestling fans will know exactly what that means ;) ) for Dave Hester in storage wars.

What does this have to do with classic gaming? This is kinda in bad taste...

I thought it would be acceptable because he's infamous among classic gamers for his misinformation regarding an average Nintendo console. It's a running joke.

I didnt like him on the show, but now i really feel sorry for him. the show is scripted now, so he was playing a character. maybe it was scripted for him to think the nes was worth that much? sort of a lesson to people who buy old games and consoles a lesson?

Exactly, he was a joke. Its just not a joke when someone kills oneself.

Beyond him being a joke he has absolutely nothing to do with video games...

Except for being in a TV show where he played a fool who thought the NES was worth thousands of bucks. Which has something to do with video games.

Who knows why he killed himself. I sure don't.

Hey, all Im saying is that when I die I dont want people laughing at me because I though some stupid nintendo was super valuable. Sure it was funny like a year or 2 ago, but I just dont think its appropriate to laugh about it on the day the guy kills himself.

You know wit the rate of 360's dying I bet there are people who think almost all NES consoles are dead. Its just something most normal people have no clue about. Thats doesnt make them jokes, he should have tested the NES out before thinking it wa worht that much though and saying it on national tv, but ultimately it was the editors who did that to him. Hell, I bet he was told to say that.

I agree. I think it's fine that it was brought up in the other topic that was already about Storage Wars and all, but to devote a brand new topic to the guy's death and proceed to make the whole topic laughing about how stupid he supposedly was (for a mistake that might have not even been a genuine mistake but just an act for the sake of reality TV drama), is pretty tasteless.

I don't really know what to think of him, and this is after reading his own biography posted on A&E's website.

With economyical changes and the fall of the housing market, the Automotive Industry follow the same trend and in 2008 I got out of the Automotive Business and start selling things on Ebay from home. It started as a hobby and quickly turned into an empire. I was always looking for deals and clearance items then start buying liquidations, customer returns and closeouts. I grew tremendously fast with over $1,000,000 in sales in the first six months of opening the new business. It quickly grew to what is today Balelo, Inc. and its companies and divisions. Balelo, Inc. now employs over 50 people with several locations including a gaming store called The Game Exchange.
He owns a video game store but doesn't know the value of common video game items? Or this finally confirms that the show is all made up BS.

I believe we all knew he was just playing a part. Like i said they made him a character that has more money then brains. If you watched him fully take apart a storage unit other then that one. You'd see he did that with everything. Storage wars is always scripted.

Of course it was. They filmed a scene where they go into a video game store for the clerk to tell him its only worth $10. THEY FILMED A SCENE.

That means before the cameras rolled everyone already knew what the end result would be but Balelo acted surprised. He knew, the fat idiot with the tank tops knew, the clerk knew, the camera crew knew.

Was this before or after that episode? I guess it doesn't really matter, I still firmly believe he knew what it was and the entire thing was scripted.

On another note, can a site like A&E not have a better layout? Some paragraph structure? That Bio is nightmare to read.

When people on TV are alive, it's okay to make fun of them and rip them apart. But as soon as they die, they instantly become geniuses and saints, and how dare anybody say anything bad about them.

I don't think that's what people are saying at all, Rob. They're trying to emphasize that there's a difference between the man himself and the character he played on TV. There's nothing wrong with making fun of a character, but implying he was really like that in real life and then laughing about his suicide is in extremely poor taste. There's a little thing called respect and decency and it sickens me that we as a society seem to have lost it. I hated Jerry Fallwell, but I didn't go around laughing and dancing a jig when he died. Why? Because my parents raised me better than that. Not to sound like an old man, but seriously, what is wrong with kids today?

Sad to hear. I used to live out there and know and worked for Daryl The Gambler, the guy that went with him to the store. Daryl's a great guy really. Also worked for friends that did that for a lining and from what I've seen of the show it's like the "real" business of doing that out there. From people just trying to make a living to the Big Money people that crush people just for the fun of it. But used to get some great finds out there.

Can't really say I'm sad. Maybe I'm a cold emotionless person, but I have a hard time being sad for someone I didn't even know. I think it's unfortunate that he felt he needed to take his own life, but he's an adult and if that's what he felt he needed to do, then so be it. I can't help but wonder why though.

Really? The guy (and his son) come across as hillbilly douchebags and appear to have the combined IQ of a bag of dirty socks.

What guy would willingly portray himself as an idiot on TV? It's not like he's an actor playing a role, not if everyone is using their real names. It's not like he needed the money either. He was barely on the show too so it wasn't for promoting any of his businesses, I can't remember him mentioning any of them when he was on.

I really don't see any problem with having a chuckle about this. The man's dead. Nothing will hurt his feelings now.
His involvement in that awful slack-jaw tv show doesn't exactly entitle him to any sympathy, and neither does the fact that he chose to be dead.

Yeah, suicide is fucking hilarious...

Im not asking anyone to be sorry or feel bad for him, I just don't think posting a story about a real person killing himself is appropriate for a classic gaming forum. His family is probably devastated.
