Resident Evil 1.5, for those unaware, was the game that Resident Evil 2 almost was. Capcom was unhappy with the game as it neared its release date and decided to scrap the project and start all over again instead of releasing what they had. That scrapped build has become known as "Resident Evil 1.5," and it's been in the hands of fans who have been restoring the project in private.

The team has had continued problems with someone named "Colvin" trying to sell playable builds to others and just otherwise being a nuisance and risking the project's security. So the team has decided to release what they have, an "unstable mess," as they call it, to everyone. This is the first time that a playable build of Resident Evil 1.5 has been released to the public. Download the unfinished ISO from here.

This could be really interesting; I figured most people who are interested already know about the changes made and just want to see it in action though.

Wonder if Capcom will get peeved?

That's pretty exciting! I've always wanted to see it running, no matter how glitchy it may be.

I downloaded the ISO last night, but didn't have a chance to give it a try due to school work and other after work obligations.

I'll see if I can try it out tonight and see what all the fuss is about. Expect multiple issues and bugs popping up :)

Doubt I'll ever get around to trying it, but it's very cool that it's out there.

So is this for PCs or for consoles?

I notice that the poster's title is PC contributor but I never knew of older Resident Evil games being available for the PC

Its a CD ISO for use on PS1 emulators. So... both?

Download link is gone. You could burn it to CD, if your PS1 is modded or whatever. I've heard it runs putridly on a PS1, far better in an emu. The build they released is around 40% done. The project, if they finish, is working on a build that was around 80% finished.

Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 were all available for PC. I have RE2 that way.

That being said I would guess this is a PS1 ISO, since its a beta version and, well, RE2 was for PS1 originally.

yea, it took me a while to find a way to get it running halfway decently, tried it on my modded xbox ps1 emulator and it ran like shit, ended up converting it into a psp eboot and playing it on my pspgo connected to the tv, looks and runs beautifully so far
