View Full Version : Missing Sound Channels on Genesis Earthworm Jim?

Okay, this is going to sound really weird.

The cartridge I just got of earthworm jim is missing sound channels when I play it. Like, about half of them. It's okay at first but then you REALLY notice they're gone when the channels that ARE there fade out. They come back a bit later and most of the music is still intact, but I can't help but wonder why anything is missing in the first place. I'm running the game on a model 1 HD-GFX but also TMSS genesis. Tried listening thru the headphone jack but it's the same way. The cart itself looks and plays absolutely fine. Every other game in my collection sounds fine too. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I'll try to get a video of it a bit later when I'm not so busy.

no activity for two days, so bumping. More interested than worried about why this one cartridge is doing this at this point.

hmm that sounds strange. I can't answer your question but I can tell you my earthworm jim cart does some strange stuff on my model one with sound. I don't recall missing channels but I remember playing and thinking something was wrong because sometimes some sounds effects would be normal then randomly the same sound effects would do crazy things. Usually I would get a high pitched ring that lasted for a few seconds and sounded clearly out of place almost as if the sound froze but the game kept playing fine.

perhaps the game simply has sound playback issues with model ones? that would be interesting to note. I can't think of it being something a dirty cartridge would do, since unlike NES games, if your game makes it to the SEGA logo, it's going to work as intended.

Which model 1 is it? This is very strange. I only play Genesis games on a model 1 and I've never had any audio issues with Earthworm Jim.

Mine's a TMSS HD GFX Model 1. Sorry I didn't see this message sooner, I thought the topic died a while back.
