Is there a reason Sims 3 on 3DS has been discontinued?

I noticed its not for sale New or Pre-owned from gamestop. When I was looking into I found out it was discontinued. Just seemed a bit odd to me. Is there any specific reason for this or is it EA just didn't want to make them anymore?

Not sure if or why it's actually discontinued but it's still readily available(and cheap) on Amazon, bestbuy.com, target.com and toysrus.com among many other places. So you don't have to worry about it becoming rare or hard to find anytime soon except maybe at Gamestop.

Isn't the game almost two years old? It's due to go out of print already.

Yeah I didn't expect it to become rare. I just found it weird that both Sims games for 3DS are discontinued. Just feels a little early in the systems lifes cycles for games to stop printing. With the exception of publishers that are known for short prints.

I mean is this really rare or are we just assuming it is because of the lame base of newbs in the last few years flooding into games trying to make anything rare and therefore profitable? I could find copies of it in multiple places in town here, and at one Target they had 3-4 in clearance for $2.95 a piece. Reading the back of the box it didn't look that interesting so I left it there.
