I've got a few technical things I need to do with some of my game cartridges; I want to replace the game save battery in my copy of donkey kong country, and tighten a few loose genesis games (Shinobi III and Super Hang-On). For these and future repairs to games for the genesis, game gear, SNES, and GameBoy, I am assuming I will need both 4.5mm and 3.88mm tools. Additionally, I will need at least one CR2032 battery to swap the one in my Donkey Kong Country cartridge with.

Here's my question to you:

There's a hundred different gamebits online, and a billion listings for CR2032 batteries. That being said, where can I find a decent gamebit and genuine CR2032s? I can't help but distrust the ones from china claiming they're SONY brand and asking a dollar for five of them.

I have looked mostly on ebay and amazon, but I'm unsure if there are even any decent ones there. Ebay preferred if there's a notoriously good seller, but I can go for other sites too.

Thank you.

I just replaced the battery in a DKC with the nifty holder and battery combination, using instructions found here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Replacing-a-CR2032-snes-cart-battery/

I bought these holders: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140396427505&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123
and these batteries:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130582503319&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160

Hope this helps.

For gamebits I purchased some random two pack from Ebay and they worked fine.

For cart batteries I like the genuine Panasonics on Mouser. I usually order misc

electronic and solder supplies from there every month, so the $5 minimum shipping doesn't really matter.

eBay gamebits are generally garbage.

Way better than the eBay slop out there:

For those batteries I buy up all the Tea Candle Lights that go on mega sell after christmas. I break them open and take the LEDs and the batteries.

I don't think they carry Sony or Panasonic but Future Electronics has extremely cheap CR2032s. You likely have to buy a box of 20 or so though. When I used to work in the electronics industry we would use them in our top of the line industrial controllers so I would certainly trust them to hold a game save.

I bought a few CR batteries for my Saturns a while back at Dollar tree. Its Sylvania brand and you get two in a pack for a buck. So far they've held up after a year.

yeah they make different sets.. a few of those sets strip apon first use .. the darker hardened steel bit kits usually work alot better.
