Hey, remember Bravoman on the Turbo Grafx 16?
No?
C'mon, it was pretty....something...
ANYWAY
NAMCO sure does. They've released a teaser today of the Bravoman animated adaptation they're making based on the Shiftylook comic series. It stars Rob Paulsen of Animaniacs/Pinky and the Brain fame and looks pretty good so far.

So, I was goofing around the web this morning and I discovered this:
www.shiftylook.com
These guys are the ones making the Bravoman animated series, and they also make webcomics based on a bunch of classic Namco arcade titles. I was particularly excited to see that Wonder Momo is one of them, because I love that game. It appears that "Rapid Thunder" is Rolling Thunder. Pretty, cool, and I thought I'd share it with you guys. They're pretty well-drawn.

I watched episode one. Pretty hilarious! I love how self aware of cartoon show cliches it is. Never really watched a webisode cartoon but this has peaked my curiosity.
And such an obscure VG character to make a show about... I think it's a real win.

The Wonder Momo comic is pretty good. It definitely outshines the PCE source material, at least in my opinion.
I wish they'd make a bit of promo stuff though, I'd buy a Momo poster even if I could never put it up anywhere :embarrassed:

I'm pretty sure they've had promo items in the past at conventions.

Yeah it is. I read about half of them. The art really is superb, too. I never realized that thing was supposed to be a hula hoop. A high quality framed mono poster would go great in my future man cave.

That reminds me of a live action film based on a Namco arcade game. If you get a chance watch Mirai Ninja, which was released in the US as Cyber Ninja and in Canada as Warlord. I own the Canadian VHS tape but it seems to be available in full on Youtube. It's like a mix of a traditional samurai film with Star Wars added in.
