I Need Your Help With My Youtube Channel.

Hey. I'm an avid collector of video games and vintage electronics.
I recently started a series of video tutorials on my youtube channel to show people how to clean, refurbish, maintain, and mod their vintage consoles.
I am very detail oriented, and I have no intention of adding to all of those crappy, shaky, out of focus, mumbling, difficult to follow video "tutorials" that plague youtube and cause people to ruin their consoles. I have a ton of experience with refurbishing and modding (I've been doing it since I was 15... 14 years... damn I'm old.) and would like to show other people how to do everything clean and correct.

Here's where I need some help:
I need console, cartridge, and controller donations.
Don't get me wrong, it seems hella fishy, and I wouldn't want to fork over my loot to some jerk on the internet either... but it's for the good of vintage gaming.

Nothing needs to be functional... or even in very good condition.
I'll give you a specific list of what I need for upcoming videos;

2 Famicoms for AV modding (I'm willing to pay for these, simply because it'll be impossible to get them otherwise.)
This can also be done by you loaning me yours, I'll mod it for free, and then I'll return it.

Some moderately to badly yellowed NES, SNES, and Gameboy consoles (they don't have to function at all) for showing different ways to re-bright the plastic.

Unresponsive NES Zapper (I actually know how to fix them... for real)

A dead Sega Genesis model 1 (for re-capping, halt switch, overclock, region unlock, composite video, and s-video mods)

Here's a trailer for the start of my series. Actual episodes will be much cleaner and have much smoother editing, as a considerable amount of time and care will go into each one. I've dug out all of my old light rigs, and I'm getting a new HD camera... it's gonna be sweet.

well i dont have any thing i can ship off because i've fixed most of it already but i do have a tip....

if you want a famicom cheap then i would watch Yamatoku-Classic on e-bay. i fuckin hate ebay but some times its the only place to find what your looking for.
any way to put into perspective most famicoms on ebay go for an average of $40 before shipping and they look like shit, i recently won this auction (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Famicom-Console-JP-GAME-/310606976760?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=jZmc5yNNtL54zWYnETDUuJxU1eM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc) for a pretty good price, not too yellowed. after winning a few other bids from them and finally paying, shipping was roughly $23 for EMS which isnt too bad for 3 or so items this size being shipped over seas.... plus $1 for a box, i hope its a cool japanese box....

i think the total combined was $60 but there was some other shit in there with it too. if you want wait on it you could ship it for less and probably get a shittier one for alot less, they will post some that look like they were pissed on their whole life so those might be a good cantidate for your de-yellowing or how to's on retrobrighting

it says it has some interference issues but in all honesty i think that is more than fixable and i really didnt want to hack into the famicom i bought at super potato, infact i havent even opened it and i went to super potato in 06 i think?

I appreciate the effort you're making as I love watching these kinds of videos on YouTube. I've even contemplated making my own for the same reason you are, plus I just think it would be fun. My suggestion would be to buy them broken, be it locally or on the internet. Not that I don't think people are willing to donate, I just don't think many have a lot of consoles they have that don't work that they don't intend to fix. Perhaps you could offer to fix broken items for people and send them back and all they have to do is pay shipping?

My interest is primarily on teaching people how to do this stuff right.
My only problem with borrowing someone's broken system, is that not all problems can be easily repaired, and sometimes they can't be fixed at all.
I figured that, in a place like this, there'd be plenty of people with the "I could use that for parts" mentality, and they'd have a couple spares lying around.
Can't fault me for trying ;)

Anyway! I'll still buy consoles when I come across them, but I encounter people that don't understand that their broken SNES and their crusty looking Atari 2600 (without any games or accessories) aren't collectors items, and they're not worth the $50 they're asking.

In all seriousness, showing how to reflow the power jack on a Model 2 genesis would also be useful for many folks since that's one of the most common things to break on them.

I'm planning on converting all of my knowledge to video... and I know quite a bit.
Also, I'm an Autodidact, so if I don't know how to do something today, I'll know how to do it tomorrow.

With that said, looking for handouts seems kinda cheesy. I buy a TON of broken/damaged consoles to refurbish. You can get something like this started with very little investment capital looking for large lots and such on eBay/Craigslist/etc.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your FAQs/How-Tos. I do some as well on my blog (though I'm like 2 months late on my promised twice a month FAQ). You can't ever have too much helpful info and tricks for this sort of stuff ;)

You buy systems to refurbish (and I assume, resell) and that's totally cool, but I'm not doing anything for profit.
I'm trying to teach people how to do something in a precise, comprehensive, and entertaining fashion.

I'm going to do an original GBA mod video, I need some custom buttons, and you seem to be the only one that makes them. (I'll totally plug your site in the episode btw).
Your site wasn't clear on what your buttons are made out of. Are they polycarbonate plastic or are they cast resin?

Going to sell some of my collection so I can get an HD camera. My current camera isn't what we'd call spectacular, and does not respond well to my lighting rigs.

Doing some pretests for my Famicom tutorials, and I'm in the middle of a spectacular mod.
My FC now plays on channel 6... and channel 3 isn't that far away!
