Not all anime games are all that great. In fact, SNES wise, the one Ranma 1/2 game we got in the states was the worst of the three in the series. I was wondering if anyone could start a list of decent-five star anime games to import.

Good topic idea. I want some decent Fist of the North Star and Lupin III games.
I like ALL the Super Famicom Ranma 1/2 games, including the RPG and Puzzle ones.

The Ranma 1/2 snes puzzle game is awesome. It's got, like, this RPS motif to it, and it's a lot of fun to play vs.
The Ranma 1/2 PSX game (Battle Reneissance) is awful. Stay the hell away from it.
Someone in another thread mentioned that they enjoyed MAccross: Scramble Valkyrie. I haven't played it.

Ghost in the Shell, for the soundtrack alone -- it's awesome. I own it on vilnyl and it's pretty cheap.
The MD Devil Hunter Yohko isn't that bad from what I hear.

In fact, looking at a DHY MD auction is what sparked this idea, however I wasn't quite willing to pay the $54.95 the guy was asking for :(

Tsuyoshi Shikkari Shinasai Taisen Pazurudama for Super Famicom. Great Konami Puzzle series + an Anime I want to see REALLY bad.

Blood: The Last Vampire came out as two different chapters for the PS2 in Japan. You can play both singlely, but they are great to play together as the story is continuous between them. Anyway, it takes place in the present day Tokyo, and fills in much more of the story that was sorely missing from the movie. The game is basically an interactive movie that you play, choosing your paths and using your abilities to decide the outcomes.

Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie for SFC is quite good.
Is Zenki an anime? Cause the Zenki SFC game isn't bad either. Batsagun for Saturn is also a decent anime based game, as are Macross 2036 and Macross: Eternal Love Song for PCE.
Oh...and the Fire Emblem games are great too, and there's an anime for them as well!

I think Fire Emblem is in that genre w/ Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter, and Street Fighter, where the anime came out after the game, no?

Not the best game, but Dragon Ball Z for the PCE CD is a pretty decent quasi-fighter. The cutscenes/cinemas/ and the opening sequence from the show are pretty damn good.

Quite possibly, I'm really not sure. But I do know I've seen the anime :)

Yes, the Fire Emblem anime was based on the strategy/RPG series. And sadly, said anime was the first piece of the Fire Emblem franchise to be released in America. The anime is pretty mediocre, but those desperate for a look at the series might want to give it a rent.

Did the Ghost in the Shell *GAME* soundtrack get released in the states? I thought the movie was very mediocre, but the animated sequences in the game are top-notch, and the opening track by Takkyu Ishino is just fucking wicked. (I saw him DJ a year or so ago... his DJing is a bit lighter, but it was a 7 hour set, so that's expected).
I've got the vinyl (as mentioned before) and it's a nice fold-out, w/ a Masamune Illustration. I'd scan it and stick it on my site if I had a 3x oversized scanner. :)

As far as I know, no. By the way, I'd slay for that LP! :)

You'd probably have to. I found it by pure luck, a year or so after it was out of print in a pretty big record store (new stuff only). Got it for about $30 or so. The CD might not be so hard to find.

I hope I didn't overspend, but I got the Yohko Mega Drive game for about $50 on eBay. Probably a bit of a splurge but hey, what can you do? :-D

I know my friend Dire 51 LOVES Devil Hunter Yohko for Mega Drive. So if you like Castlevania, Valis, Strider, Mystic Defender, and games like that, you'll probably like it. If not, at least you can sell it for about $50, right? ^_^

I'm quite enamored with the MD Yohko, yes. :) It's tough, but fair - and it really does remind me of the early Valis games.
I also have to recommend the following:
Area 88 (SF)
Kujaku Ou 2 (MD)
