Non-portable Video Game Emulation Options for TV play

Hey, does anyone who if a non-portable commercial emulator like the Dingoo or Pandora exists? I know you can play these portable systems on your home TV, but I'd rather have something that looks something like a traditiona, sturdyl console while not paying extra for a small screen that mocks my near sightedness.

Also, because I know it is more than likely someone will recommend just hooking a computer up to my TV, is there a (Linux based or otherwise) operating system for computers with emulator friendly user interface (sorta like what the PSP has)? Basically, I want an interface that can be navigated with a controller hooked up to a usb port rather than using a keyboard and a mouse.

I apologize if I'm the only idiot in the retro community who hasn't heard of x product, but my Google Fu isn't helping me turn up any promising leads into this matter. As always, thanks for any help.

There are some set-top style Dingoo clones but they're pretty janky. I'd hardly call them sturdy or reliable.

Instead I'd recommend an XBOX or Wii. Both are relatively easy to soft mod (Wii is a BREEZE).

A soft-modded original XBOX is great for a lot of emulation.

A homebrew channel enabled Wii is spectacular for 8-to-16 bit stuff and supports some great network enabled shops for downloading/managing updated versions of the emulators and connecting for online multiplayer.

XBOX is superior for MAME. MAME on Wii is downright awful.

Also, OUYA is on its way soon. Android has excellent emulators for stuff up to and including N64.

Awesomeness. Thanks, Frankie! For whatever reason I've never really given the OUYA much of a glance, but this is looking like a pretty sweet answer to my question for just under $100. Here's hoping that MAME and NEO-GEO emulators will eventually work on it.

I'm pretty sure that the basic/early MAME stuff will run fine.

Both already have emulators on Android.
